Uproar in Assembly over fund release for welfare sector

Hyderabad: The Opposition parties, Congress and MIM, on Monday accused the TRS Government of neglecting the welfare of SC,ST, Minorities and the disabled people.

Speaking in Assembly, MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi accused the government of making lofty claims of granting huge funds for the marginalized sections but released meager funds for the same.

He said that though the government claimed of allocating huge funds for minorities only Rs 300 crore were released till now.

He said that the students’ community was facing severe difficulties due to non-payment of fee reimbursement for two years.

He also said that funds under welfare sector like Aasara pensions have not been released for long. He said that the government was doing injustice with the weaker and marginalized sections in the State.

Speaking on the issue, Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy said that the government had not yet released funds for the year 2016-17 for various welfare schemes.

He said that 40 to 50 per cent of funds were not released for the previous year.

He said that government would not get even Rs 90,000 crore of the Rs 1,30,000 crore budget and advised the government to revise its estimates and implement all the schemes as promised.

Replying to the charges of Opposition parties, Finance Minister Eatala Rajendar said that the allegations of Opposition were baseless and added that the TRS Government has allocated huge funds for welfare sectors.

He said that the government has launched innovative schemes like Kalyan Lakshmi and Shadi Mubarak to help the maraginalised sections.

He said that the TRS government was committed for the welfare of all sections of the society and had spent Rs 51,615 under various welfare schemes in the last six months.

He accused the Opposition parties of resorting to mudslinging and misleading people.

Stating that they were dissatisfied with the minister’s reply, MIM and Congress members staged a walk out of the Assembly. (INN)
