Congress plans week long protest against note ban from Feb 6

Hyderabad: The Congress party will conduct week long protest across Telangana State against the demonitisation decision from February 6.

Addressing the State-level Congress convention ‘Jana Avedana Sammelanam’ at Jaya Laxmi Gardens in Tirumulgherry, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party would continue its agitation until the Centre and RBI lifts all restrictions on withdrawal of money from banks and ATMs.

Stating that the Congress party, through various protests held so far, was able to create awareness among people, he warned the BJP-led NDA Government against prolonging the problems being faced by the people. He said that the demonitisation decision was a surgical strike on common man and it ransacked the entire economy.

He said that the protest programmes would be conducted in all 119 Assembly constituencies of Telangana State from February 6 onwards.

Speaking about Telangana State, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the TRS Government has failed on all fronts. Ridiculing Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s claims on double bed room houses, he said that the government did not construct even 300 units during the last two-and-a-half years.

He asked the Chief Minister to specify the time by which more than 2.5 lakh 2BHK houses would be constructed. He said that the Congress party would return to power in 2019 and it would construct an additional room for all the Indiramma houses allotted so far.

The TPCC chief accused KCR of acting like brand ambassador of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Chief Minister was blaming demonitisation for non-clearance of crop loan waiver and fee reimbursement dues. He said that the State’s fiscal health was already in deterioration mode in pre-demonitisation period.

The meeting was attended by AICC leaders K. Raju, B.C. Shiv Kumar, K.C. Krishna Murthy and R.C. Khuntia, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Leaders of Opposition K. Jana Reddy and Mohammed Ali Shabbir and other leaders including V. Hanumantha Rao, G. Chinna Reddy, Madhu Yashki, Danam Nagender, Renuka Chowdhary, T. Rammohan, DK Aruna, Nerella Sharada, Khaja Fakhruddin, Arepally Mohan, G. Sanjeeva Reddy, T. Balram Naik and other leaders. (INN)
