Hyderabad: Nearly 200 members of TS Govt Colleges Contract Lecturers Association on Friday tried to lay siege to Telangana Congress headquarters Gandhi Bhavan accusing the main opposition party of stalling their regularisation.

The agitating contract lecturers alleged that the Congress party has approached the High Court against the State Government’s order for regularising the services of contract lectures.

They accused the party of playing with the lives of thousands of contract lecturers. They raised slogans against the Congress party and demanded that it withdrew its case in the High Court. Later, the protesting lecturers were taken into custody by the police.

Reacting to the development, TPCC Vice-President Dr. Mallu Ravi denied all the allegations and clarified that the Congress party did not file any case against regularisation of contract lecturers.

He alleged that some lecturers organised the protest at the behest of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He asked as to why the State Government did not file any counter in the High Court if was serious on regularising the services.

Mallu Ravi said that it was the Congress party which originally led the agitation demanding regularisation of contract lecturers as promised by the TRS in its manifesto. However, the TRS Government was delaying the process by wrongly blaming the Congress party. (INN)
