Revanth slams TRS Govt on re-designing of irrigation projects

Hyderabad: Telangana TDP Working President and MLA A. Revanth Reddy said that the people of Telangana would have bear an addition burden of Rs. 20,000 crore due to re-designing of irrigation projects by the State Government.

Speaking to media persons here on Friday, Revanth Reddy accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao of wasting public money in the name of project re-designing.

He alleged that the Chief Minister was taking up the exercise only to benefit contractors of Andhra region. He sought clarification from KCR on why the capacity of Pochampally reservoir was first enhanced and then reduced.

He said that the Chief Minister had earlier mentioned of providing 50 TMC of water through Mallanna Sagar and approved re-designed project worth Rs. 7,300 Crore. But now this has been reduced to 30 TMC, he said.

Revanth Reddy said that the projects were being re-designed only to escalate their costs so as to benefit the relatives of the Chief Minister. He alleged that the TRS Government was openly cheating the farmers of Telangana State. (INN)
