Congress asks KCR to implement enhanced quota for STs, Muslims

Hyderabad: Alleging that the Reservation Bill passed in the Telangana Assembly and Council was just an eyewash, former union minister Balram Naik asked Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to implement the enhanced quota for Muslims and Scheduled Tribes in the ongoing recruitment drives.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Balram Naik said that the State Government need no clearances from the Centre to implement the enhanced quota in the recruitment drives.

However, he said that the Chief Minister was cheating the Muslims and STs by not giving a clear deadline for implementation of increased quota.

It may be mentioned that the reservation for Muslims has been increased from 4% to 8% while it has been enhanced from 6% to 10% for STs.

Meanwhile, Congress MLC Shabbir Ali claimed that the reservoirs inaugurated by Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao on Thursday were taken up during previous Congress regime under JNNURM scheme. He said that the TRS Government was trying to take credit for the entire scheme by completing 1-2% of pending works. (INN)
