Digvijaya Singh’s tweets rake up controversy

Hyderabad: AICC General Secretary Digvijaya Singh has published a series of tweets on Monday accusing Telangana Police of trapping Muslim youth through a fake website of ISIS.

“Telangana Police has set up a bogus ISIS site which is radicalising Muslim Youths and encouraging them to become ISIS Modules. It was on their information that MP Police arrested accused who were responsible for the bomb blast in train in Shajapur District of MP.

It also resulted in Saifullaha encounter in Kanpur the same day,” Digvijaya Singh tweeted. This followed by a series of tweets targetting Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.

“The issue is whether Telangana Police should be trapping Muslim Youths in becoming ISIS modules by posting inflammatory information? Is It Ethical? Is it Moral? Has KCR authorised Telangana Police to trap Muslim Youths and encourage them to join ISIS? If he has then shouldn’t he own the responsibility and resign?

If he hasn’t then shouldn’t he enquire and punish those who are responsible for committing such a heinous crime? I agree but what about the Telangana Police which is posting inflammatory postings to radicalise Muslim Youth through their fake ISIS site?” he added.

These tweets evoked strong reaction from Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma and IT Minister K. Tararakama Rao with both denying the allegations.

“Unfounded allegations from a senior responsible leader will lower the morale and image of Police engaged in fighting anti-national forces,” the DGP tweeted.

Earlier, KTR, who was in Delhi, described Digvijaya Singh’s allegations are “most irresponsible and reprehensible thing coming from a former CM.” “Request you to withdraw these comments unconditionally or provide evidence,” he demanded in his Tweet.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath Reddy has lodged a complaint against Digvijaya Singh in Jubilee Hills Police Station. He said that the tweets of Congress leader were politically motivated. (INN)
