Hyderabad: Home and Labour Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that the Telangana Government has set a target of providing 2-3 lakh jobs in the private sector during the next two years.
Addressing the official May Day celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi on Monday, the Labour Minister said that the State Government was striving to generate more employment opportunities in the private sector.
Listing out various measures being implemented by the government for the welfare of workers, he said construction workers were being provided accidental insurance.
He said Rs. 6 lakh would be paid in case of death and Rs. 4 lakh assistance would be given in case the workers suffer from permanent disability. Similarly, Rs. 30,000 assistance was being provided to the pregnant women workers.
Nayani asked trade union leaders to work without having any political affiliation or inclination. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has taken several steps for the development of workers. He said Singareni workers were given 43% fitment.
For the first time, Anganwadi workers have been given the status of teachers and their salaries have been revised twice during the last three years. He said that the government has already constituted Minimum Wages Board and waiting for its recommendation to fix wages and salaries.
Minimum Wages Board chairman Sama Venkat Reddy, MP B. Narsaiah Goud, MLC Ramulu Naik, Labour Department Principal Secretary Rajit Kumar, Commissioner Ahmed Nadeem and other officials also addressed the meeting. Awards were also given to 22 representatives of different unions while 10 companies were given given Best Management Award. (INN)
