Hyderabad: Hyderabad stood 1st among the most populous metro cities including Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata in Swachh Survekshan 2017 Rankings.
Among 434 out of 500 cities in India who were given ranking, GHMC got 22nd rank. Last year GHMC stood 19th among 73 cities. In 2015, GHMC’s rank was 275 among 476 cities. GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy expressed happiness over Hyderabad improving its rank from 275th to 22nd in a period of two years.
They gave credit to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s passion for ‘Swachhta’ which motivated the GHMC team to improve its performance resulting in GHMC reaching the top position among the metros. (INN)
