Survey on impact of Mission Bhagiratha from May 29

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh said that the State Government, in association with UNICEF and Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), will conduct a baseline survey on the socio-economic impact of ‘Mission Bhagiratha’ in the State.

The survey will be conducted from May 29 to August 31. The accumulated data will be analyised from 1st to 30th September and a draft report will be prepared by October 31.

The Chief Secretary said that the final report will be prepared by November 30. Of 9,834 habitations in the State, the survey would be conducted in as many as 1,422 habitations.

With an average of eight households in each habitation, nearly 12,000 households will be covered in the survey. These decisions were taken during the meeting of Steering Committee constituted for conducting the baseline survey.

Singh briefed the officials on procedures for collection of data and its analysis. He said that the socio-impact of survey of Mission Bhagiratha would reveal as to how supply of safe drinking water has changed the lives of SCs, STs and other communities.

He said supply of safe drinking water also leads to change in eating habits and also prevents occurrence of diseases, malnutrition and other factors responsible for ill-health. He hoped that the survey findings would provide a great insight on all these aspects. (INN)
