Congress demands CBI probe into Miyapur land scam

Hyderabad: AICC General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Thursday demanded CBI probe into the multi-crore Miyapur land scam.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Digvijaya Singh said the racket involved in the sale of government lands should be fully exposed.

He said after the scam came to the light, Chief Minister K. Chandrashehar Rao has just transferred the Sub-Registrar and has been trying to hush up the entire scam. He said several big shots were involved in the land scam.

He said that the scam was similar to Nayeem’s case wherein a few low rank police officials were punished while the big sharks were let off. Similarly, he said several big people were involved in the Miyapur land scam and only a CBI enquiry could bring out the facts, he said.

Digvijaya Singh alleged that Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav was involved in the land scam and demanded a thorough probe to expose his involvement.

When asked for reaction on ex-union minister Jaipal Reddy’s proposal for tie-up with TDP in next elections, Digvijaya Singh said he was not aware of that statement.

However, he said that the Congress would be contesting from all 119 seats in next elections and would emerge victorious. He said BJP National President Amit Shah’s visit to Telangana was given lot of publicity by the media, but it would help his party in the State. (INN)
