KTR asks the Centre to review the controversial Agnipath scheme

Hyderabad: Agnipath scheme is killing the aspirations of millions of youth who want to join the armed forces and serve the nation, said TRS Working President K. Tarakarama Rao.

Without any consultation, the BJP Govt at the center has taken a unilateral decision on the Agnipath scheme, KTR said. He stated that the farmers weren’t consulted before introducing farm laws, traders weren’t consulted before bringing GST, citizens of the nation were neglected during demonitization, and the minorities were ignored when CAA was proposed

The BJP Govt at the center has played with the lives of farmers with draconian farm laws and is now adversely affecting the soldiers with schemes like Agnipath, said KTR.  He also said that the Union Govt should take complete responsibility for the protests taking place across the nation.

The center has reduced the army from ‘one rank-one pension’ to ‘no rank – no pension,’ said KTR. He stated that this is a scheme that is pushing the national security and future of youth into danger, which is a threat to the nation.

KTR mentioned that the agitations across the country against this controversial scheme show how intense the unemployment problem in India is. He also added that the youth of the nation is not happy with the Union Govt and its policies.

He stated that the BJP at the center is trying to privatize the military of the country which shows their inefficiency in governance.

TRS Working President KTR stated that 75% of the youth who join the army through the Agnipath scheme will become unemployed at the end of the fourth year. He questioned what would happen to the youth who finish a four years career in the army and come out.

KTR stated that the Union Govt has failed miserably in providing employment opportunities to the army officials who served for many years risking their lives for the safety and security of the country.

KTR trashed the words of the Union Govt which stated that the youth after completing four years will get jobs in private firms. He added that no citizen in the country would believe the words of Prime Minister Modi after he failed to deliver his promise of two crore jobs every year in the country.

This scheme will majorly affect the youth coming from rural areas who aspire to join the army and serve the nation, KTR said. He also stated that this controversial scheme will disturb the organizational culture, traditions, and values that have kept the Indian Army at the highest pedestal for decades.

KTR stated that the Union Govt is negatively affecting the spirit of the armed forces by taking such decisions at a time when the neighboring countries are posing a threat to the security of the country.

Setting aside national security, BJP is keen on financial elements, KTR said. He added that this is a cheap attempt made by the BJP Govt to save the pension money which is given to the retired officers.

KTR demanded the Prime Minister to respond to these protests and also make his stand public to clear the doubts of the unemployed youth.

TRS working President KTR added that the TRS party understands the agony of the protesters.KTR conveyed his condolences to the youth who died in the protests at the Secunderabad Railway station today. He said that the Union Govt should take complete responsibility for this death. (INN)

Shabbir Ali questions Mahmood Ali’s silence on TRS-BJP nexus, 12% Muslim quota

Hyderabad: Former minister and ex-Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused Home Minister Mahmood Ali of misleading the Muslim community just to secure votes in Huzurnagar Assembly bye-elections.

Shabbir Ali, in a media statement on Wednesday, alleged that the Home Minister was highly ignorant on the subject of minorities’ welfare. Referring to Mahmood Ali’s speech in Huzurnagar wherein he claimed that TRS Government was secular and K. Chandrashekhar Rao was a pro-minority Chief Minister, he said Mahmood Ali was openly cheating the community by hiding the truth.

He said Mahmood Ali was personally indebted to KCR for making him Deputy CM in the first term and now the Home Minister, but he was wrong in claiming that that he was first Muslim in the country to enjoy a top position. He pointed out that the Congress party got Zakir Hussain and Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed elected to the post of Presidents of India. Several Muslims were elevated to the post of Vice Presidents of India, Governors and Union Ministers.

Further, he said so far six Muslims had served as the Chief Ministers of different States. They include Syeda Anwara Taimur (Assam), Abdul Ghafoor (Bihar), C. H. Mohammad Koya (Kerala), Abdul Rahman Antulay (Maharashtra), M. Farroq (Pondicherry) and Barkatullah Khan (Rajasthan). He said Akbar Ali Khan and M.M. Hasham had served as the Home Ministers of united Andhra Pradesh. Present Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha is Ghulam Nabi Azad. Therefore, KCR might be a Godfather for Mahmood Ali, but it was routine for the Congress party to nominate Muslims on top posts. “Even I’ve served as the Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council because of Congress party,” he said.

The Congress leader questioned Mahmood Ali’s silence on the issue of 12% Muslim quota which KCR had promised in April 2014. KCR had assured to implement it within four months after coming to power, but did nothing even in six years.

“Mahmood Ali should also have the courage to admit and speak the truth that 4% Muslim reservation under implementation since 2004-05 was given by the Congress regime and so far it has benefitted nearly 25 lakh poor Muslims in Telangana and AP States,” he said.

Shabbir Ali said TRS had also promised to give judicial powers to Wakf Board and also promised to take back all encroached Wakf properties in Telangana State within 6 months after coming to power in 2014.

“What prevented TRS Govt from strengthening the Wakf Board? Not a single inch of encroached Wakf land has been restored and many TRS leaders encroached upon thousands of acres of valuable Wakf property,” he alleged.

He also alleged that a prime Wakf land belonging to Chunti Shah mosque at Osmanpura, which is located exactly opposite to Mahmood Ali’s house, was alienated in 2015. Of 4,990 sq mt, as much as 1,372 sq mt Wakf land was alienated to private parties by the Revenue Department by declaring it as government land.

Despite Mahmood Ali holding the portfolio of Revenue Department, the Wakf land was not yet restored. Similarly, the Ek Khana Masjid, another mosque located on a Wakf property, was demolished by TRS Government in the recent past. Two more mosques in Secretariat premises are also being demolished, he alleged.

Shabbir Ali advised Mahmood Ali to do some research before targeting the Congress party. “Congress regimes not only protected the Wakf properties, but also strengthened the Wakf institutions across India, especially Telangana. Central Wakf Act in 2013 was introduced and National Wakf Development Corporation Limited with a capital of Rs. 500 crore was established to develop Wakf properties.

As the then Minorities’ Welfare Minister in 1994, I took the possession of Razzack Manzil and laid the foundation stone for present Haj House.

Congress Govt purchased two private properties adjacent to Haj House at Nampally. A century-old legal dispute of Dargah Hazrath Ishaq Madani Aulia of Visakhapatnam was resolved and 5,300 acres of land was restored to the Wakf Board by making Revenue Dept withdraw cases in favour of Wakf Board in Supreme Court. Congress Govt also restored 35 acres of land which was acquired for Shamshabad Airport,” he said.

He questioned Mahmood Ali’s silence on cut in minorities’ welfare budget by over 30%, lack of loans for minority youth, denial of scholarship to more than 1.5 lakh poor minority students or the closure of nearly 80% of minority institutions in Telangana in the last 5 years.

He said as the Home Minister, Mahmood Ali should at least explain the status of reports on Alair Encounter and Kishan Bagh Firing Incidents. He should also clarify as to why TRS Govt did not file an appeal against the judgement of CBI Special Court in Mecca Masjid blast case in a higher court.

He said that it was the Congress regime which constituted the Minorities Welfare Department and introduced the minorities’ welfare budget in 1993-94. Starting with Rs. 3 Crore in 1993-94, it was increased to Rs. 1024 crore in 2013-14.

Shabbir Ali challenged Mahmood Ali to show a single instance when KCR confronted Modi Government at the Centre.

He said it has been proved beyond doubt that TRS was B-Team of BJP and the pink party was actually implementing the ‘saffron agenda’ of RSS. Therefore, he advised Mahmood Ali to stop misleading the Muslim community with fake and wrong claims. (INN)

BJP distorting history of Hyderabad’s merger: Uttam

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Nalgonda MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that only Congress and Communist parties have played a role in struggle for Hyderabad‘s merger with Indian Union.

Speaking after hosting the national flag at Gandhi Bhavan on the anniversary of 71st anniversary of Hyderabad Merger Day at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was ridiculous that BJP leader Ram Madhav, who hails from Andhra, was speaking about Hyderabad Liberation despite the fact that BJP or its predecessors did not participate in struggle against Nizam.

He said only the Congress and Communist parties were active in struggle for Hyderabad’s merger and gave several sacrifices.

He said the last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan had refused to join Hyderabad State with the Indian Union and wanted to either join Pakistan or stay independent. He said the credit for merger of Hyderabad with Indian Union through Operation Polo goes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabh Patel.

Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the BJP leaders were not aware of the history but they are trying to distort the history of Hyderabad’s struggle to draw political mileage. He said that the history cannot be changed and no one should try to distort it for whatever may be the reason.

The TPCC Chief said that it was the Congress party which brought independence for the country in August 1947 after a long battle for freedom. Likewise, it was the Congress party which granted statehood for Telangana in 2014.

BJP or the members of Sangh Parivar played no role either in freedom struggle, Hyderabad’s merger or in formation of Telangana State. However, he said BJP leaders were trying to make an issue out of Hyderabad Merger Day. He asked the Congress party leaders to enlighten the young generation about the real history of Hyderabad and struggle for Telangana.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party has been celebrating the occasion every year since 1949. He said the Congress cadre celebrated the Hyderabad Merger Day all across Telangana by hoisting national flag at district headquarters.

Congress senior leaders including K. Jana Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Kusum Kumar and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

Later, Uttam Kumar Reddy also participated in the function organised by Congress leader G. Niranjan at Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Koti. Congress leaders V. Hanumantha Rao, Shashidhar Reddy, Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Kodanda Reddy, Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof. Kodandaram and several freedom fighters were also attended the function. (INN)

TRS, BJP jointly conspired to damage Congress in Telangana: Sravan

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) National Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan alleged that the TRS and BJP have hatched a secret conspiracy to damage the Congress party in Telangana State.

Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Sravan alleged that both TRS and BJP were same sides of a coin with both sharing the common objective of causing damage to the Congress party. He pointed out that all Union Ministers, during their visit to Telangana, were praising the TRS Government.

In turn, TRS is extending unconditional support to all the decisions of BJP Government. Both parties are working in ‘Made for Each Other’ mode. In contrast to the real behaviour and understanding, both BJP and TRS are misleading the people by enacting drama of rivalry, he alleged.

Sravan said there was neither any scope nor hope of BJP emerging as a political force in Telangana State. He said BJP candidates could not secure deposit in 103 out of 119 Assembly seats in the elections held in December 2018.

Despite having such a humiliating performance, he said BJP leaders were making tall claims of emerging as an alternate to ruling party. He said Telangana BJP President K. Lakshman has no moral right to criticise TPCC President & Nalgonda MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

He said Uttam Kumar Reddy had served the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot and risked his life on multiple occasions to protect the nation. Therefore, making personal remarks against a retired soldier and questioning his abilities is highly regrettable, he said.

The Congress leader said that the BJP neither got an opporunity nor will get one to strengthen itself in Telangana. He said the victory of BJP on four Lok Sabha seats in last elections was totally incidental and unexpected and it made its leaders start day-dreaming about winning next Assembly elections.

He said BJP could never become an alternate to the Congress and this dream of BJP leaders would remain unrealised.

Sravan cited several examples of strong friendship between TRS and BJP. He reminded that when Prime Minister Narender Modi visited Gajwel on August 7, 2016 to inaugurate Mission Bhagiratha scheme, both PM Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao praised each other. KCR went to the extent of saying that Telangana does not want anything from the Centre but he wants a little space in PM Modi’s heart.

Similarly, Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari, during his visit to the State on 5th May 2018 praised the roads in Telangana State. On 18th September 2018, the then Union Minister of State for Home Affairs visited Punjagutta Police Station and showered praise on the Law & Order situation in Telangana.

While Union Minister Prakash Javedkar praied the Haritha Haratha programme, other BJP ministers Ahluwalia and V.K. Singh, during their visits to Hyderabad, praised the Telangana Government for different things.

The Congress leader asked as to why BJP Government was not conducting fast track investigation into the ESI and PF scams involving KCR despite CBI registering a case. He challenged BJP leaders to convince their party’s government at the Centre to order CBI probe into the cases of Gangster Nayeem, Miyapur land scam, Drugs Mafia and irregularities in the irrigation projects.

Similarly, he asked TRS leaders to clarify whether or not their party gave unconditional support to the BJP Government on decisions like demonitisation, GST, elections of President and Vice President of India, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, NITI Aayog chairman, Triple Talaq Bill, RTI Amendment Bill and Article 370.

Sravan despite having friendship for political and personal gains with the BJP, TRS failed to pressurise the BJP Government at the Centre on approving the Bill for enhancing Muslim reservation to 12% which was passed in the Assembly on 16th April 2017.

He said other promises made in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Act like a Steel Factory at Bayyaram, Railway Coach Factory at Qazipet, Tribal University and national status for an irrigation project remained unfulfilled.

He alleged that both TRS and BJP were true, but secret, allies and enacting the rivalry drama to cheat the people of Telangana while causing huge loss to the State. (INN)

BJP Govt has no concrete plans to double farmers’ income: Uttam

New Delhi: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Nalgonda MP Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Tuesday demanded that the BJP Government at the Centre either reduce the GST on fertilisers and agriculture machinery to zero or place it in the lowest slab.

He also demanded payment of Rs. 6,000 Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton and establishment of a Turmeric Board for Nizamabad farmers. He also demanded a new legislation to help tenant farmers.

Initiating the debate on demands for grants of the ministries of Rural Development and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the BJP Government of paying ‘lip service’ to the cause of farmers and not taking any concrete measure to resolve the agrarian crisis. “Indian farmer is today in the midst of a serious agrarian crisis with more than 30 farmers committing suicide each day,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare was expected to spend Rs. 75,753 Crores in the year 2018-19 as per Revised Estimates. However, he said that the Provisional Accounts maintained by the CGA shows that the expenditure was only Rs. 53,000 crore which is Rs. 22,000 Crore less than the Revised Estimate which is a shortfall of 29%.

“Despite 65-70% of our population directed or indirectly dependent on agriculture, the present government’s low priority to agriculture, inadequate support prices, inefficient procurement systems, flawed crop insurance mechanism and many such policies and decisions have pushed the Indian farming community into an existential crisis,” he said.

The Congress MP reminded that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during his visit to Nizamabad for election campaign, had promised to establish a Turmeric Board. Therefore, he said that the Centre must honour its promise and set up the board at the earliest.

He said Goods and Services Tax on tractors and agricultural machinery has increased the input cost of farmers. Therefore, fertilisers, tractors and machines should be exempted from GST or brought in the lowest slab. As he made this his demand, BJD member Bhartruhari Mahtab, who was in the Chair, lauded it and asked why the GST rate should not be zero.

The Congress MP also slammed the BJP Government for not publishing the data of farmers’ suicides. “Tragedy of this government is that they do not want to see the grim reality of the frightening scenario that the Indian farmer faces. Instead of trying to stop suicides, the government decided to stop the publication of data,” he said.

He also pointed that the NCRB has stopped publishing its report from 2016 onwards. He said NCRB was first merged with the Bureau of Police Research and Development in 2016 and 10 months later it was de-merged. But the NCRB was still not publishing data on farmers’ suicides, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the worst sufferers were tenant farmers. While tenant farmers in Telangana constitute about 30% of total farmers, they are 15% in rest of the country. Of 2.12 crore tenant farmers, almost all of them have no access to bank or institutional finance. They get no benefit from either PM Kishan Samman Yojna or crop insurance.

Consequently, they go to money lenders, especially those who go for commercial crops. When crops fail, large number of tenant farmers commits suicide. He informed that in the united Andhra Pradesh, the then government brought Licensed Cultivators Act to give legal sanctity to tenant farmers which made tenant farmers eligible for institutional finance. He urged the Centre to come up with a similar legislation for tenant farmers.

The Congress MP also alleged that the BJP Government had no plan of action to fulfil its promise of doubling farmers’ income by 2022. “The government promised in its budget speech in 2016-17 that it will double farmers’ income by 2022. This was repeatedly emphasised by the Prime Minister. Now, three years have passed. It is the halfway point.

Has the Government prepared any report on how far they have progressed on this promise? To achieve the goal, the incomes should have grown 13% every year for six years.

The Economic survey of 2018 shows that the incomes have remained flat with almost no growth. Can the Agriculture minister in his reply let us know how much percentage farmers’ income has grown from 2016, when the announcement was made up to now?” he asked.

He pointed out that the Economic Survey from January 2018 analyzed the issue of farmers’ income. On Page 10, it says, “In the last four years, the level of real agricultural GDP and real agriculture revenues has remained constant.” Therefore, the growth rate in agricultural incomes over the first four years of NDA government was almost zero. Where does it stand now? he asked.

Further, he said on Page 95, Sec 6.44 of Economic Survey it was stated that the farmer income losses from climate change could he between 15% and 18% on average, rising to anywhere between 20% and 25% in non-irrigated areas. “This reflects the real situation being faced by farmers in the country. Without implementing concrete solutions, the government is talking about doubling farmers’ Incomes by 2022,” he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the BJP Government for not giving proper MSP to farmers. He said that the BJP, during 2014 elections, had promised to increase MSP as per the recommendations of Swaminathan Commission. But in 2014, the government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that it is not possible to give 50% over and above the cost of production.

On May 22, 2017, the then Agriculture Minister totally denied of having made any promise to implement Swaminathan Commission’s recommendation on MSP. It again took a U-turn and in the budget speech of 2018-19, the then Finance Minister announced that the government would give MSP of input cost plus 50% as recommended by Swaminathan Commission. It went a step further to say that it was already implemented for a majority of Rabi crops.

“What they actually did was to use a lower definition of costs, so that they don’t have to give the high MSP they promised. In reality, the rise in MSP in Khariff in 2018-19 was not even high in percentage terms when compared to MSP raised in 2008-09 by UPA Government.

In fact, during UPA-2, the average profit margin over cost of production was higher in almost all the crops compared to high MSP of last year,” he said adding that farmers, nowhere in the country, were able to sell their produce at MSP.

He also alleged that the present MSP was not even 25% of the actual price recommended by the Commission which decides on agriculture pricing. “MSP recommended was much higher figure than what is finally approved by the government,” he said.

Stating that the PM- Asha scheme was started by the government to ensure that every farmer get the benefit of MSP, he said the scheme was aimed at benefitting 14.5 crore farmers. However, he said that the scheme has turned into ‘Niraasha’ (Disappointment).

He said cotton and chilli farmers are forced to sell their produce below MSP. “Calculations by experts show that at least Rs. 15,000 crore should be allocated for the scheme to make sure that large number of farmers gets the MSP.

But the budget speech of 2019-20 doesn’t even mention PM – AASHA and al allocation of only Rs. 1500 crore have been made for the same. With Rs. 1500 crore, does the government expect to make sure 14.50 crore farmers will get benefit of MSP in all the crops?” he asked.

He demanded that the Central Government increase the MSP of cotton to at least Rs. 6,000.

Similarly, he said that Rs. 6,000 per family per year under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi was too meagre to make any difference to the farmer’s plight. “Giving Rs. 6,000 a year to a family of 5 is giving Rs. 3.30 per day to each member fo the family. Is this giving ‘samman’ to the farmer?” he asked.

Alleging that the government was completely disconnected from the reality of farmers, he said a farmer need an investment of at least Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000 per acre for cultivation.

Therefore, giving Rs. 6,000 per year in 3 instalments would not help the farmers. Further, he said crores of tenant farmers, share croppers, landless agricultural workers, adivasi farmers without pattas are not covered in this scheme, he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also alleged the PM Fasal Bima Yojana was a total failure and as against the targeted coverage of 50% of farmers’ holdings, the coverage was 29% in 2016-17 and only 24% in 2017-19 and it has further decreased in 2018-19.

Instead of farmers, he said that the scheme has helped private insurance firms earn profit of Rs. 3,000 crore in 2017-18 as revealed in the report of IRDA. (INN)

BJP MPs from Telangana meet Sushma Swaraj

Hyderabad: Newly elected MPs of Bharatiya Janata Party from Telangana State called on External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sushma Swaraj expressed happiness over party’s victory on four seats. “I am Chinnamma of Telangana.

That’s why I can say that it is a perfect mix of traditionalism and modernisation,” she said. In Telugu, Chinnamma’ means mother’s younger Sister or a Maternal Aunt. (INN)

Ponguelti quits Congress to join BJP

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and ex-MLC Ponguleti Sudhakhar Reddy resigned from the Congress party on Sunday.

A few hours after releasing his resignation letter to media, he met Prime Minister Narender Modi and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In his resignation letter sent to Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Ponguleti alleged that the traditions and values of Congress have changed contrary to its principles. “The influence of money has increased in allocation of tickets in Telangana in Assembly elections of 2018, MLC election and Lok Sabha elections of 2019.

It is shocking to find that crores of rupees have been sought for allocation of party tickets. This kind of commercialisation of ticket allocation in Indian National Congress forced me to think about leaving the party.

The reason for corrupt and bad practices is failure of State leadership. I tried my best to convey the factual ground situation but high command is not receptive due to middlemen,” he alleged.

Ponguleti said he was annoyed with the attitude of Congress party and its prominent leaders. “There has been inconsistent stand of Congress leaders on the issue of terrorism, national security and encouraging such kind of actions by the Congress high command has brought bad reputation for the party and its leaders.

Since the party has failed to understand the sentiments of countrymen, I felt it is not proper to continue working with middlemen and irresponsible persons in Congress party,” he said. (INN)

TRS and BJP are political parasites: Sravan

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan has alleged that both TRS and BJP parties were behaving like ‘political parasites’ and banking on Congress party for their own survival.

He was addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday along with Konda Vishweshwar Reddy who filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Chevella Parliamentary constituency.

Sravan said that the TRS party was neither having public support nor good leaders of its own to face the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. For the same reason, he said, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was acting like a leech by encouraging defections in Congress and other parties.

He was simply buying out leaders from other parties to use them in favour of TRS in coming elections. Citing an example, he said Nama Nageshwara Rao, a TDP leader, was given ticket from Khammam within six hours of joining the TRS.

Similarly, he said TRS Peddapalli candidate Borlakunta Venkatesh Netha had contested on Congress ticket from Chennur constituency in the Assembly elections held in December 2018. Similarly, he said BJP was poaching leaders from Congress party to strengthen itself in Telangana State. Therefore, he said both TRS and BJP were behaving like ‘political parasites’.

The AICC Spokesperson said that by dropping six leaders, including three sitting MPs, KCR has certified that his party MPs had poor performance. He said TRS had come to power in last Assembly elections by indulging in irregularities and EVM manipulation.

However, he said the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections were a straight fight between Prime Minister Narender Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi and KCR was not all relevant. He said people have to choose whether they want a dictatorial rule or a democratic government.

Therefore, he said people should elect Congress candidates to ensure formation of a truly democratic and people’s government at the Centre. He said people should completely avoid TRS, which is nothing but the B-Team of BJP and KCR an agent of Narender Modi.

Commenting on TRS candidates, the Congress leader alleged that KCR has given tickets to all betrayers of Telangana movement. “In what way Malla Reddy was associated with Telangana movement? KCR first rewarded him with a cabinet berth and now he fielded his son-in-law Rajashekhar Reddy as TRS candidate from Malkajgiri.

Similarly, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who had openly opposed Telangana, was first made a minister and now his son Saikiran Yadav has been made a candidate from Secunderabad seat. KCR is asking people of Telangana to reward all the betrayers of statehood movement by making them MPs,” he said.

However, leaders like G. Vivek, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Prof. Seetharam Naik and Jithender Reddy, who actively participated in Telangana movement have been dropped. “Rewarding the betrayers, by sidelining the true loyalists of Telangana seems to be the policy of TRS,” he said.

Sravan said Konda Vishweshwar Reddy has played a crucial role in Telangana movement in individual capacity. KCR had begged him to join his party so that TRS would get strengthened. Therefore, Vishweshwar Reddy had joined the TRS and also got elected from Chevella constituency in 2014. However, he came out of the party as he gives more prominence to self respect than power.

Further, he said Vishweshwar Reddy strongly believes that Telangana could be developed only through a national party. He said Vishweshwar Reddy comes from the ‘Konda Legacy’ and people are aware of services rendered by Konda Venkata Ranga Reddy and Konda Madhava Reddy.

He said despite coming from such a great background, Vishweshwar Reddy never showed any signs of arrogance and he developed Chevella with total dedication and commitment.

The Congress leader said that the TRS Government has failed to take up the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) project which was approved by the previous Congress-led UPA Government.

Stating that only 8% of people in Chevella were salaried employees, he said ITIR project could have created an alternate economy and provided jobs to thousands of youth in Chevella and surrounding regions.

Similarly, TRS Government has betrayed the people of Ranga Reddy, especially Chevella, by re-designing Pranahita Chevella projects. He said this project would have provided irrigation facility to entire Chevella Parliamentary constituency.

Having cheated the people of Chevella, now KCR is promising that he would bring water from Kaleshwaram project. He also slammed KCR for not taking any measures to withdraw GO 111.

Sravan appealed to the people to realise the cheating done by TRS and understand the failures of KCR. “KCR is still not focussed on people’s issues or concerns. He just wants to win 16 MP seats so that he could become PM or play a role in national politics.

However, the Congress party is completely focussed on development of Telangana and wants its people to achieve success,” he said.

Earlier, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy thanked Rahul Gandhi for nominating him as Congress candidate from Chevella. He claimed that he would win the seat with a majority of over three lakh votes. (INN)

KTR lashes out at BJP leadership

Hyderabad: TRS Working President KTR addressed the party cadre in Secunderabad parliamentary constituency meeting today. In the meeting, KTR attacked BJP and said, “PM Modi said Sab ka saat, but for Telangana he only gave haat.”

In the meeting, KTR stated that the TRS party leaders have been requesting the Centre to confer national project status to Kaleshwaram and sanction of a special grant for it. But the center never responded to the demands.

“We have asked 100 acres of defense land to construct two flyovers in Secunderabad. In exchange, we offered 500 acres in Shamirpet. Padma Rao (Former Minister) and I have made multiple requests which were unanswered. The leaders at the center never gave permissions,” said KTR.

In the meeting, KTR reminded that PM Modi promised to create 10 crore jobs in five years. But nothing was delivered. He also said that PM Modi promised to bring back black money. That too never happened.

KTR mentioned that Dr. K Lakshman of BJP challenged TRS before every election, but people of Telangana gave a mandate to TRS. He confidently said that TRS will win the Secunderabad Parliament constituency.

KTR stated that BJP has always insulted Telangana leaders. “Not even a single leader from Telangana was taken into the cabinet. Bandaru Dattatreya was inducted into the cabinet but was removed shortly,” he said.

Winning 16 parliamentary seats will make Telangana a decision-making force in the center he said. KTR asked the cadre to strongly campaign for TRS in the upcoming elections. (INN)
