VHR condemns attack on Yechuri

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao strongly condemned the heckling of CPM Secretary General Sitaram Yechuri by an activist of Hindu Sena.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, VHR said that the attack on Yechury reflects the growing intolerance of opposition in the Narendra Modi Government.

He alleged that the RSS and BJP was patronising such attacks with the sole intention to intimidate and wipe out opposition parties. He also alleged that the Prime Minister wants to turn India into a Hindu nation by enforcing RSS ideology upon others.

However, he said that the Congress party would never allow this happen and India would remain a secular country.

VHR also announced that the Congress party would continue its fight against the TRS Government until it withdraws all cases registered against chilli farmers in Khammam and elsewhere.

He also informed that the Congress party was planning to organise a meeting of BCs, SCs and minorities and AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi would be invited for the same. (INN)
