Hyderabad’s Niluofer Hospital Needs TS Govt. Attention

Niluofer Children’s Hospital in Red Hills area of Hyderabad does not have enough nurses, nursing officers, ambulance and other required facilities, an investigation by State Minorities Commission (SMC) reveals.

Mohd. Rahmath along five others filed a petition with the SMC complaining about lack of treatment to Rahmath’s child in Niluofer Children’s Hospital. Following it, SMC constituted a four-member commission to investigate the matter.

The commission inspected the Niluofer hospital on January 16 in morning hours and interacted with the superintendent and other faculty, nursing and administrative officers, a press note from the SMC noted.

“Pursued the records of the Protocols being maintained and has filed a report before the Commission.”

The Salient points of the commission report are:

  1. The Hospital has a strength of 500 patients, but is treating about 1000 patients per day.
  2. The patients are coming from all the Districts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharastra.
  3. The Hospital does not have any Ambulance Equipped for Pediatric Emergency.
  4. The Hospital does not have MRI & 2D ECHO, CT Scan is hardly in working order.
  5. There are no Senior Radiologists, Nursing Officers hence patients are being referred to other Hospitals.
  6. Lack of sanitary staff has made it difficult for the hospital to be kept clean.
  7. There is no any support of NGO Social work Councilors for counseling the patients.
  8. The new block already constructed and ready for occupation for the last 7 months had not been handedover, as it not inaugurated, if provided will go a long way in providing the required infrastructure.
  9. Vacancies for Nursing staff to be filled long waited.

SMC chairman Abid Rasool Khan said that a report has been sent along with the recommendations to the Government of Telangana for “due consideration and necessary required action, so as to provide the best of facilities to the children from the poorest of the poor who go to Niluofer Hospital for the treatment.”
