Harish Rao holds 10-hr long marathon review meeting on irrigation

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao held over 10-hour long meeting to discuss and review the status of irrigation projects in Telangana State.

The meeting, which began at 2.30 pm on Saturday at the State Secretariat lasted till 1 am past midnight. The meeting was attended by Special Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi, Irrigation Principal Secretary Vikas Raj and other senior officials who gave power-point presentations on the present status of various small and medium irrigation projects.

Addressing the meeting, Harish Rao said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has allocated huge amounts for irrigation projects to fulfil the promise of providing water to cultivation of crops on 1.20 crore acres of land. He said the process of Geo-Tagging of 45,222 lakes and tanks have been completed.

The designs for 45 medium projects were under preparation. He directed the officials to ensure quality in construction of projects and make better use of modern technology.

Harish Rao informed that the State Government would get funds from World Bank under Dams Rehabilitation Empowerment Programme. Therefore, he asked the officials to prepare the estimates for construction of dams by August 10. (INN)
