GST should not slow down pace of development: Telangana CS

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Secretary S.P. Singh on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure that the Goods & Services Tax (GST), which is under implementation from July 1, does not affect the pace of developmental works being executed by various agencies.

Addressing a review meeting with the top officials at the State Secretariat today, the Chief Secretary said it should be ensured that the GST impact is not felt on any works, especially those pertaining to Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, irrigation projects and double bed room houses for weaker sections.

He said that the State Government was spending huge amounts on those schemes and their on-time completion should be ensured at any cost. He asked the officials to prepare an estimate of GST impact on all these schemes. He also directed the officials to issue guidelines and rules for the implementation of GST.

S.P. Singh said no work should be stopped due to GST or other reasons. He asked the officials to stay in regular touch with the implementing agencies and provide them necessary guidelines as and when required. (INN)
