Pratik, Shehla, Mevani to join panel discussion at Lamakaan on I-Day

Popular young leaders Jignesh Mevani, Shehla Rashid and Pratik Sinha are scheduled to discuss the need for radical youth movement at Lamakaan on Independence Day.

The panel discussion would bring into debate the resurgence of fascism since 2014, said Lamakaan Manager Akshay. The discussion is being organized as part of fourth edition of Hasan Memorial Lecture.

Speaking about the event, Lamakaan founder Ashhar Farhan says, “Lamakaan has always strived to ask questions and foster debate and dialogues on key issues in our society and there is no one better than our 3 young guests to engage with these questions.”

The three leaders come from different backgrounds. Shehla Rashid Shora served as JNU vice president from 2015 to 2016. She played vital role in various right activities.

Jignesh Mevani emerged as a young leader during Una movement of Gujarat. He mobilized Dalits in the wake of brutal attack on Dalit youth in Una, and asserted their rights over land.

On the other hand, Pratik Sinha started a new portal called AltNews as a crusade against manufactured news or fake news. Often, the fake news serves deliberate underground political propaganda.

The panel discussion would start at 7pm and last for about two and a half hours. For more details, visit Lamakaan page.
