‘She Team’ women police officers get scooters

Hyderabad: Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, today presented more than 150 new Hero scooters to the women police officers of Telangana Police department.

Equipped with sirens, traffic lights and PA systems, the Hero scooters will empower women police officers and allow them to conveniently perform their patrolling duties.

The Hero scooters were presented to the women police officers that are part of the special ‘SHETEAM’. An all women force set-up to enhance the safety of women in the city

Vijay Sethi, CIO & Head – CSR, Hero MotoCorp, handed over 70 scooters to M. Mahender Reddy (Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad); 50 scooters to Sandeep Shandilya (Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad) and 39 scooters to Mahesh M. Bhagawat (Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda). Also present on the occasion were other senior police and Hero MotoCorp officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Sethi, CIO & Head – CSR, Hero MotoCorp said, “As the market leader and a responsible corporate citizen, Hero MotoCorp is committed to promote Road Safety and Women Empowerment. We are constantly engaged in increasing awareness on these key topics through a series of programmes at the national and regional levels.

Telangana is yet another state where we have partnered with the state police department in an effort to bring effective changes in the society. Today’s initiative will prove to be big step forward for our association with Telangana Police and our national efforts.“

Hero MotoCorp has handed more than 250 two-wheelers to Haryana Police and Uttarakhand Police since last year, under various initiatives such as ‘Project Sakhi’. (INN)
