TS Govt spending Rs. 10,000 Cr on school education: Dy CM

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari (Education) has informed that the Telangana Government had spent an amount of Rs. 10,130.07 crore for educating children in Government/Local Body (Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools),

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), Model Schools and Telangana Residential Education Institutional Society schools in the year 2016-17.

Replying to a question raised by MLA Jalagam Venkat Reddy during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, the Deputy CM said that the amount includes expenditure on salaries of teacher and staff;

infrastructure development and various components of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Mid-day Meal programme, etc.,

He said per child expenditure in 2016-17 was Rs. 41,196. He said this was Rs. 3,782 in 2004-05 and Rs. 21,634 in 2014-15.

He said expenditure details of 1994 were available only for the combined State and the District Information System of Education (DISE) was introduced in 1998 and thereafter, the data of enrolment of the children in Government/Local Body schools has been compiled regularly. (INN)
