Harish Rao invites AP Minister Deveneni for meeting on RDS

Hyderabad: Telangana Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao has invited his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Deveneni Umamaheshwar Rao for a meeting to discuss Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme works.

In a letter to Deveneni, Harish Rao informed that Karnataka’s Minister for Water Resources M.B. Patil during his visit to Telangana on January 4 has assured that modernisation works of RDS would be completed by July 2018 in all aspects for which cooperation of AP Government is required.

“He has suggested convening a tripartite meeting of ministers of three states to resolve issues and workout action plan for the completion of works by July 2018,” he said.

Harish Rao also invited the attention of AP Minister on a letter which he wrote on August 8, 2017 where it was requested to indicate probable dates of meeting for discussion on progress of modernisation of RDS anicut and head works (Pakcage – I).

“Several attempts were made in the past at the Chief Engineer level to resolve the issues, but did not give positive results.

In this connection, I seek your cooperation and participation for a tripartite meeting in Hyderabad on the above long pending issues along with Karnataka State for an amicable resolution in the interest of farmers of RDS Ayacut of Karantaka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh state,” he said. (INN)
