Tribal university will be operational from next year: Dy CM

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure that Tribal University and Veterinary College in Warangal should be operational from next academic year.

Addressing a review meeting with the higher officials at the Secretariat, the Deputy CM said that both Tribal University and Veterinary College should start their academic activities from June 2018. The officials told Deputy CM that Veterinary Council of India has already been approached to begin admission process in Veterinary College.

He said a team of VCI has also inspected the college which was sanctioned in 2016 and named after former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. Rs. 6 crore were also approved towards administrative expenses. Later, the government had sanctioned Rs. 109.69 crore to construct college building, labs and other infrastructure.

The Deputy CM asked the officials to expedite the works and ensure that the college begins its operations from next academic year. Similarly, he said that academic activities of Tribal University should also begin from June this year.

The Deputy CM had raised the issue of Tribal University during the meeting of Central Advisory Board on Education of Union Human Resources Development Minister and the Union Minister, Prakash Javedkar, has been informed that the State Government has already sanctioned 169 acres of land for the Tribal University.

The Deputy CM said the Central Team would visit the university in the month of February. He also informed that he would visit the Tribal University in Jabalpur in February to study its model and replicate the same in Telangana. (INN)
