Telangana’s biggest Sikh Gurduwara inaugurated

Hyderabad: The biggest and magnificent Darbar Saheb of Gurudwara Saheb Barambala, Sikh Chawniat in Attapur of Kishanbagh, built with beautiful archiecture and design, was inaugurated by major three Sikh Head Jathedars on Sunday in the presence of thousands of devotees on Sunday.

This newly constructed Gurudwara is the biggest Gurudwara in Telangana built at a cost of around Rs 8 crore has come up adjacent to the existing oldest Gurudwara built nearly 150 years ago.

This is the first time in the history of Hyderabad, Jathedars of major Sikh Takhats from various parts of the the country have come together for inauguration, they Jathedar of Takhat Sri Keshgarh Saheb, Anandpur Saheb (Punjab), Singh Saheb Giani Raghbir Singhji, Jathedar of Takhat Sri Damdama Saheb (Punjab), Singh Saheb Giani Harpreet Singhji, Meet Jathedar, Takhat of Takhat Sachkhand Sri Hazur Saheb, Nanded (Maharashtra), Singh Saheb, Giani Jyotinder Singhji and President, Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Manjeet Singh G K and Bhai Esher Singhji of Hyderabad.

Philanthropist, S Tavinder Singh Kohii and S Gagandeep Singh Kohli who runs Guru Nanak Institutions played a pivotal role in the construction of the Gurudwara by providing majority of the funding.

Speaking on the occasion, DSGMC President Manjeet Singh GK recalled the services of Sikh community in protection the country from outsiders, the community always stood for communal harmony and peace, despite serious atrocities made against Sikhs, the Sikh community did not revolt or created any hatred against any religion.

The Guru Granth Sahebji (revered scripture of Sikhs) always preaches equality and togthereness among all the section of the section irrespcetive of caste and creed.

Even during wars, Sikhs served Langar (food) to the injured enemies first. He announced that DSGMC will establish a Gurmat Vidyalaya at Grudwara Barambala Saheb premises.

The three Jathedars hailed Sikhs living in Deccan Telangana for maintaining their Sikh identity who have come here in 1830s at the request the then Nizam Rulers who were facing troubles from Jagirdars who were not paying the revenues.

Prabhandak Committee of Gurudwara Saheb Barambala, Sikh Chawniat, Chairman, S Harbans SIngh, President, S Sukdev Singh and Secretary S Ranveer SIngh and others said that this was biggest Gurudwara to be built in Telangana where at a time 9,000 to 10,000 devotees can be seated in the hall.

Apart from inauguration, Sikhs also participate in the 388 Birthday Celebrations of Seventh Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Har Rai Sahebji on Sunday where a Vishaal Deewan (Mass Congregation) was organised at the Gurudwara premises up to 4 pm in which Jathedars also participated.

Later in the evening a colourful ‘Nagar Keertan’ (Holy Procession) was taken out from Gurudwara Saheb premises in which all the Sikh Gurudwaras from Telangana state would participate in the events.

Ragi Jathas Bhai Gagandeep Singh of Ganganagar, Rajasthan and Baba Dharamveer Singh Khalsa from Punjab rendered shabad keertans and thrown light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus. (INN)
