Political rivals should not be treated as enemies: Vice President

Hyderabad: Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu said that in a democracy all political leaders should respect each other.

Speaking at a ceremony held to give Lifetime Achievement Award to former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and ex-Governor of Tamil Nadu K. Rosaiah, the Vice President said political opponents should not be considered as enemies.

He said leaders should confine politics to elections and later they should work together for the growth of country and society. He said the elected representatives should behave in a responsible manner.

Recalling his association with K. Rosaiah, Venkaiah Naidu said he was one of his very old friends. He praised the political career of Rosaiah and described it a quite successful.

In his speech, Rosaiah said he had begun his political career from Jai Andhra movement and he met Venkaiah Naidu during the same time. He said that the top leadership of Congress party has always encouraged him and elevated him to many top posts.

Telangana Deputy CM Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Advisor to Telangana Government K.V. Ramanachary, Congress leader Subbarami Reddy and other leaders were also present on the occasion. (INN)
