TS Govt and NASSCOM to launch Centre of Excellence

Hyderabad: In a break through during the ongoing World Congress on Information Technology 2018, the Government of Telangana and NASSCOM join hands to launch a Centre of Excellence for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CoE-DS & AI) in Hyderabad, on the sidelines of NASSCOM India Leadership Forum. The CoE will be a public – private partnership model with an initial joint investment of Rs. 40 Crore.

Speaking on the occasion, IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said, “Telangana will be the first state in India to bring Artificial Intelligence in Public Health Screening.

The technology has great potential to make great social impact. The government is keen to create a robust Data Science & Artificial Intelligence ecosystem for various stakeholders to thrive, by providing support, mentorship, and other capabilities.”

“It is envisaged that there would be a whopping $ 16 billion worth of industry by 2025 and is estimated to create around 50,000 new jobs in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence,” NASSCOM President R. Chandrashekhar said.

“The vision behind this CoE is to consolidate and streamline the efforts in this space by building state-of-the-art infrastructure to amplify the impact that India can indigenously create,” he added. IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and other officials of NASSCOM also spoke on the occasion. (INN)
