Congress demands KTR’s resignation, probe into corruption charges

Hyderabad: TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan on Sunday demanded that Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao be sacked from his post and a high-level probe be ordered into the allegations of corruption against him.

Describing the statement made by Sircilla Municipal Chairperson Samala Pavani as an “honest confession”, Sravan said her statement has once again proved that TRS was running a government of “percentages and commissions.”

He said Pavani has been ‘punished’ with ‘forcible resignation’ within hours after she confessed of prevailing corruption across the Telangana State. However, he said that the main culprit has been let go scot free.

Sravan alleged that the TRS Government was looting the people of Telangana in the name of contracts and committing a heinous crime by taking commissions. He said the web of corruption and commission revolves around KTR who is holding several important portfolios.

Stating that Pavani’s statement has exposed the true colours of KTR, he said if the local municipal councillors are allowed to take commissions of 2-3% on each contract, then the magnitude of corruption at the State level could be imagined.

The Congress leader alleged that entire family of KCR was deeply involved in irregularities and corruption in various projects. He said that the KCR Government has escalated the costs of several projects in the name re-designing and thousands of crores of public money have been swindled through shady contracts.

He said Pavani was forced to resign from her post to hush up the confessions that she made during her interaction with media. However, he said that the Congress party would take required legal action, including lodging a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau, to seek a high-level probe. (INN)
