More than 35k farmers did not benefit from crop loan waiver scheme

Hyderabad: More than 35,000 farmers from the districts of Ranga Reddy, Medak, Adilabad and Khammam did not get any benefit from the crop loan waiver scheme, the BJP leaders alleged in their memorandum submitted to Chief Secretary S. K. Joshi on Wednesday.

Speaking to media persons at Secretariat Media Point after meeting the CS, BJP floor leader G. Kishan Reddy said that during the Congress regime in the year 2013, the Banks had reschedule the loans of these farmers in these districts and the Reserve Bank of India has given moratorium for two years.

As these have not come under the loan waiver scheme of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao after the formation of Telangana State because of moratorium, the dues of these farmers remained unpaid.

Kishan Reddy said this has been informed to Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao and Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy.

The Chief Minister has admitted in the Assembly session held in December last and also in the last Budget session that these farmers whose loans has been rescheduled did not get the benefit and given the assurance that entire loans which comes to between Rs. 300 to Rs. 400 crores will be cleared.

The BJP leader said that the same thing has been explained to S.K. Joshi who is new to the position. However, the Chief Secretary reportedly told BJP leaders that he was aware of the issue and assured to take action by the end of this month (INN)
