Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari has proposed introduction of new courses in commerce which should be market-oriented.
Addressing on the subject of “Digital Commerce” in National Commerce Conference in Bhadruka College on Saturday, the Deputy CM said that there was an urgent need to introduce fresh courses which should equip the students with knowledge to prevent irregularities in the banking sector.
He expressed concern over people losing their faith in banking system. He said several banking scams have surfaced in the recent past which increased worries of common people.
The Deputy CM also stressed on the need to promote Digital Commerce which can make payment of taxes easier. He said courses in Digital Commerce should be started by ensuring a perfect sync of Information Technology and Commerce.
Kadiam said that Telangana State was losing nearly Rs. 2,000 crore of revenues due to the implementation of Goods & Services Tax. Despite giving an assurance of compensating for the losses, he said that the Central Government did not extend any help. He said that the Centre has introduced the GST without putting in place a mechanism to face the consequences.
The Deputy CM also slammed the BJP Government at the Centre for demonitisation. He said that the revenues of Telangana have declined due to note ban and common people are still suffering due to the decision.
Kadiam also informed that the Vice-Chancellors of all Universities in Telangana have been asked to go ahead to fill 1061 vacancies. He said filling up of vacancies have been delayed by the universities as are waiting for the new guidelines of University Grants Commission.
The conference was also addressed by Advisor to TS Govt Papa Rao, Osmania University Vice-Chancellor M. Ramchandran, Palamuru University VC Raja Ratnam, Telangana Commerce Association president Venkateshwarlu and other senior officials. (INN)
