Kadiyam condemns Supreme Court’s advisory on SC, ST Act

Hyderabad: Expressing serious concern over Supreme Court advising amendments in the SC, ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said that the Apex Court and the Central Government should work within the purview of the Constitution of India.

He was speaking after laying foundation stone for double bed room houses and Ambedkar Bhavan in Chintakunta of Karimnagar district on Sunday.

The Deputy CM said that the rights granted to Dalits in the Constitution could not be suppressed. However, he said that the recent verdict of Supreme Court amounts to intrusion in the Constitutional rights being enjoyed by the SCs and STs in the country.

He said that the Central Government should immediately approach the Supreme Court seeking a revision of recent decisions.

Kadiyam also spoke about various schemes being implemented by the TRS Government in the State.

Earlier, the Deputy CM also laid foundation stone for the construction of Ambedkar Bhavan at a cost of Rs. 10 crore on 3 acres land. He informed that the Ambekar Bhavan would have facilities like a Study Circle, Auditorium, Computer Centre, Library, etc.,

The programme was also attended by Finance Minister Eatala Rajender, MP B. Vinod Kumar, MLAs G. Kamalakar, N. Lakshman Das, Karimnagar Mayor Ravinder Singh, Minorities Finance Corporation chairman Syed Akbar Hussain and other senior officials. (INN)
