MANUU observes World Environment Day

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) observed World Environment Day today by organising a poster exhibition on environment. The event was organized by the NSS Cell of MANUU at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The posters prepared by the NSS Volunteers were displayed in the exhibition.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor, after inaugurating the exhibition congratulated the NSS Cell. He said that the protection of the environment is compulsory for all of us. We have to focus special attention towards environment not only for ourselves but for our future generations, he added.

This year India is the host nation for the day and its theme is “Beat Plastic Pollution”. It is the responsibility of students and young generation to use paper bags instead of plastic ones, he urged. Prof. Shakeel Ahmad also planted a sapling on the occasion.

Mr. Anis Azmi, Chief Consultant, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies, MANUU while discussing his childhood memories said that tribal people are the ones who take better care of environment. Mr. Azmi also wrote poems for children to motivate them for environmental protection. Dr. Mohd.

Fariyad, Programme Coordinator, NSS Cell, while praising the students for preparing excellent posters in a very short time, spoke about the significance of the event and the importance of environment protection for human life.

Mr. B. Bhikshapati offered the vote of thanks. The exhibition was attended by a large number of students, teachers and non-teaching staff.
