Hyderabad: The Serilingampally Zone has become the first zone in the GHMC as zero waste generator office.

GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy, along with Serlingampally Zonal Commissioner Harichandana, inaugurated one of the Bio Composter where all wet waste will be collected and put in a bio composter which is having a half a ton capacity.

For every one kg of food waste put in to the composter 20 minutes of cooking gas will be generated which can be utilised for making Tea/ Coffee in the office premises.

The GHMC officials of the Serilingampally zone have installed twin bins separately in all the office rooms where all dry waste is being collected by ITC and GHMC as a pilot project to get some revenue out of it.

By introducing this type of plant, this zone has become the first green ISO rated and certified office in GHMC, said the Commissioner. (INN)
