Education without training useless: Aslam Parvaiz

Hyderabad: The main aim of education is to bring growth and make ones personality complete, but education without training is an exercise in futility.

Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice- Chancellor, Maulana Azad National Urdu University expressed these views while addressing the orientation programme of newly admitted students of MANUU at DDE auditorium today.

He welcomed the students to the MANUU fraternity and described it as an important phase of their life. While asking them to learn to love the Urdu language he advised the students to access the new sources of knowledge through world wide web.

Stressing the need to maintain discipline, he asked the students to spread love as there is no space for bigotry. He said that Personality is a combination of ones outlook and inner self. Students coming from different corners of the country shall avoid bias and discrimination, he advised.

Differences need to be appreciated, he added. He also advised the students to equip themselves with the demands of the market and develop good communication skills in English also. Earlier Dr. M A Sikandar, Registrar welcomed the gathering and extended best wishes to the new students.

Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Pro Vice-Chancellor introduced the officials of the University and said the students are the main stakeholders of any educational institution. Describing MANUU as a resourcefull centre of learning he asked the students to utilize its facilities properly.

He also stressed on the importance of the relationship between teachers and students. Dr. S K Naqvi, Director, Centre for Information Technology informed the students about the Integrated University Management System. Dr. Akhtar Parvaiz, Librarian spoke about the services offered by MANUU Central Library & online resources.

Prof. A. Ravindranath, Dean, Academics talked about the Choice Based Credit System. Mr. Rizwan Ahmad, Director, Instructional Media Centre in his presentation threw light on free online education portal Swayam and Swayam Prabha.

He also talked about the importance of social media in modern education system. Mr. Anis Ahsan Azmi, Senior Consultant, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies conducted the proceedings.

The orientation programme was organized by the Directorate of Admissions. Prof. P. F Rahman, Director and Dr. Mohd. Shamsuddin, Assitant Regional Director supervised the arrangements.
