Journalists seek Governor’s intervention to resolve journalists’ issues

Hyderabad: A delegation of Telangana Union of Working Journalists (TUWJ) and Indian Journalists Union (IJU) met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Sunday requesting his intervention in resolution of issues concerning jouralists.

Led by IJU leader D. Amar, the delegation of journalists, submitted a memorandum to the Governor briefing him on the problems being faced by them. They informed the Governor that as many as 220 journalists died in the last four years due to various reasons.

They demanded that their families be provided financial assistance. They also demanded implementation of Wage Board recommendations to provide basic minimum salaries. The delegation also sought recognition for electronic media.

Senior journalists K. Srinivas Reddy, Y. Narender Reddy, M.A. Majid, K. Satyanarayana, Nagori Shekhar, K. Warahat Ali, Rajesh and others were part of the delegation.
