UP officials praise Telangana PDS

Hyderabad: Commissioner for Uttar Pradesh Civil Supplies Alok Kumar said Telangana Civil Supplies Public Distribution System is very good and inspirational to other states. Putting barriers to irregularities in ration distribution with wide usage of technology, public distribution has come closer to poor people.

A team from Uttar Pradesh Civil Supplies headed by Alok Kumar (Commissioner, Food & Civil Supplies), Kripa Shankar Pandey (Finance Controller, Food & Civil Supplies), Kamlesh Kumar Pandey (Deputy Food Marketing Officer, Food & Civil Supplies), Narinder Kumar (Program Policy Office, WFP) visited Telangana state for observing Public Distribution System. On Thursday, team met with Telangana Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabharwal and other officials at Civil Supplies Bhavan.

UP Team visited Command Control Centre and enquired about goods transportation, GPS tracking system, ePOS Machine, Iris functioning. The team also visited Civil Supplies godown at Azamabad.

Commissioner Alok Kumar praised Telangana Civil Supplies for putting barriers of side tracking of the goods and prominent delivery to beneficiaries.

Command Control Centre, ePOS, Iris system functioning is excellent. Iris is very helpful to the beneficiaries whose finger prints worn out to get their commodities without any difficulty.

Mainly, 100% of Aadhar linking with ration cards is very much appreciable. In Uttar Pradesh it is 37% completed till now. Paddy Procurement, payment to farmers’ accounts directly without any interference of middlemen is excellent.

Commissioner for Civil Supplies Department Akun Sabharwal said, as per National Food Security Card each beneficiary avails 5kgs of rice at Rs. 3 per kilo, whereas Telangana government is supplying 6 kgs of Rice to each beneficiary at Rs. 1 per kilo. There are 2.75 crore beneficiaries in Telangana state.

From next month onwards Iris system will be implemented in four districts and in coming two months it will be implemented all over the state.
