90% students appear for Pre- Ph. D Course Work exams

Hyderabad: Ninety percent of the students appeared for the Pre-Ph.D Course Work Examination that was conducted peacefully in Osmania University on Friday.

Out of 1,700 registered candidates in all Faculties, as many as 1,520 appeared for the examination and nine students were booked for malpractice.

OU Vice Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandram, OU Registrar Prof. Ch Gopal Reddy, Officer on Special Duty Prof. T. Krishna Rao, senior officials of the university visited the venues while the invigilators and squad members maintained a tight vigil.

While there was an element of uncertainty due to the boycott call given by the student organizations protesting against the dissolution of the house, students arrived early for the examination.

Earlier, in the pre lunch session a section of students had urged the authorities to postpone the examination.

The pre Phd exam is mandatory for students before they submit their doctoral theses.
