Rahul Gandhi promises a new Telangana if voted to power

Bhainsa: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appealed the people of Telangana to vote for Congress party to put an end to the corrupt regime of TRS to establish a new Telangana of people’s dream.

Addressing a public meeting in Bhainsa of Adilabad district on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi strongly criticised Prime Minister Narender Modi and Telangana caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for their wrong policies and non-performance.

He said that the original dream of Telangana remained unaccomplished despite the formation of State about five years ago. He accused KCR of wasting five precious years of a new State. He alleged that KCR indulged in irregularities and benefitted his own family.

He said various sections of the society had several dreams and aspirations with Telangana formation. However, TRS Government shattered all those dreams. Stating that only Congress party could turn the dreams of common people into a reality, he said there was a lot to be done for Telangana.

Rahul Gandhi promised that the next Congress Government would waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take and provide remunerative prices for their produce to farmers. He said cotton farmers would get a price of at least Rs. 7,000 for their produce.

Further, he said the Congress Chief Minister would work 18 hours in a day to create lakhs of jobs. He said jobless youth would be paid a monthly allowance of Rs. 3,000 each. “While KCR promised one job for each household in Telangana, Modi promised 2 crore jobs in a year across the country.

Both of them failed to honour their promise,” he said.

The Congress president alleged that PM Modi in Delhi and CM KCR in Hyderabad have been cheating the people with their fake promises. “If you want to listen to lies and fake promises, then you can attend the meetings of Modi and KCR.

I’m into politics for the last 15 years and I never made any false promises. I’ve always fulfilled all the promises which I made with the people. The UPA regime had waived off crop loans of about Rs. 70,000 crore across the country in a single take.

UPA Government also took several measures during the 10 year period to eradicate poverty and it was quite successful in doing so,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi said that the previous UPA Government introduced Land Acquisition Act to stop forcible acquisition of land from farmers or tribals. He said effective legislation was brought to ensure that the farmers are paid four times of market value for the land which is being acquired.

However, he said BJP Government made three attempts to amend the Land Acquisition Act to facilitate forcible acquisition. With the Congress MPs blocking their attempt, PM Modi directed all BJP Governments not to implement the Act in their States.

For the same reason, he said KCR did not implement the LA Act and resorted to forcible acquisition of land belonging to farmers and tribals without paying adequate compensation.

He promised that after returning to power, the Congress Government would ensure proper implementation of the Act and the lands which were forcibly taken away from Adivasis would be returned to them.

The Congress president predicted that the BJP and TRS were all set to lose power in Delhi and Telangana respectively in next elections. He said both BJP and TRS Governments completely neglected the entire farm sector which drove thousands of farmers to suicide.

He said thousands of farmers have committed suicide in Telangana in the last four years. He said it was essential to bring the Congress party to power to end farmers’ suicides.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that KCR Government had conducted huge irregularities in the name of re-designing of irrigation projects. He said Pranahita Chevella Project of Rs. 38,000 crore was re-designed as Kaleshwaram Project to escalate the cost to Rs. 1 lakh crore.

Similarly, Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar projects in Khammam were re-designed to increase the cost from Rs. 2,500 crore to Rs. 12,000 crore. Further, KCR Government disrespected Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by removing his name from Pranahita Chevella project.

During 2014 elections, he said, Narender Modi had promised that he would work as ‘Chowkidar’ (watchman) and not Prime Minister. However, he said, Modi never told for whom he would work as ‘Chowkidar’.

Instead of working as ‘chowkidar’ for people and the country, Modi works as ‘chowkidar’ for 15 rich people like Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallaya and Anil Ambani. He said common people were harassed in the name of demonitisation and small traders were tortured through GST (Gabbar Singh Tax).

Modi took out money from your pockets and gave it to his rich friends, he said.

Speaking about Rafale deal, he alleged that by granting Rafale fighter jet contract to Anil Ambani’s company, Modi benefited him to the tune of Rs. 30,000 crore. He said Anil Ambani’s company was formed just 10 days before the signing of contract and it had no experience of defence manufacturing.

He said during UPA’s regime the Rafale deal was finalised for Rs. 526 crore per aircraft while the BJP Government signed it Rs. 1600 crore. While UPA gave the contract to HAL, Modi Govt granted it to Anil Ambani, who is debts of nearly Rs. 45,000 crore.

He said when he raised the Rafale deal issue in the Parliament, PM Modi, who claims to possess 56-inch chest, could not look into his eyes.

Rahul Gandhi accused Modi Government of spreading hatred in the country. He said wherever Modi goes, he try to divide people on the basis of religion, caste or region. While Modi is trying to weaken India, Congress party is making efforts to take every along.

It wants people belonging to all religions, States, poor and rich to work together for development. This is the difference between Congress and BJP, he said.

Earlier, while addressing the meeting, TPCC President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy held KCR responsible for suicide of over 4,500 farmers in Telangana State.

He said while KCR did not even express any condolences over the suicide of any farmer, Rahul Gandhi visited their families and even extended financial assistance.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the overwhelming public response to Rahul Gandhi’s meeting was an indication that the Congress party would win all 10 seats in erstwhile Adilabad district. He said that the public mood was in favour of Congress party across the State and the formation of Congress Government in Telangana on December 12 look imminent.

The TPCC chief said that KCR has cheated Dalits, Girijans, BCs, minorities, students, youth, farmers, agricultural workers, women and all other sections during the last four-and-a-half years. He said all these sections are waiting for December 7 to throw out TRS regime.

He said huge injustice was done with Adilabad district due to shelving of Pranahita Chevella project. He said construction of barrage at Tummadi Hatti could have provided irrigation facilities to lakhs of acres in Adilabad district. He demanded that KCR apologise with the people of Adilabad for depriving them of irrigation facilities.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also highlighted the major promises being made by the Congress party for various sections in next elections.

The meeting was also addressed by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Sabitha Indira Reddy, A. Revanth Reddy, Maheshwar Reddy and other senior leaders.

“KCR took Telangana on top in corruption”

Later, addressing another public meeting at Kamareddy, Rahul Gandhi slammed KCR Government for failed promised and neglecting welfare of farmers. While people expected Telangana to be a model State, KCR took it on top in corruption and irregularities, he said.

Rahul Gandhi said more than 4,500 farmers committed suicide in Telangana under TRS regime. He said farmers were treated like criminals when they asked for better price for their produce. They were implicated in false cases and chained.

Poor Dalits and Girijans were not given promised 3 acres of land. Similarly, promised double bed room houses remained a distant dream for homeless poor. He said KG to PG free education proved to be a mirage.

The Congress president alleged that KCR has put a debt burden of Rs. 2.60 lakh on every family of Telangana. While KCR has money to construct a palatial bungalow for himself by spending Rs. 300 crore, he had no money to spend on education of farmers’ children.

He said TRS Government failed to fulfil the promise of reviving Nizam Sugar Factory in 100 days after coming to power. Likewise, nothing was done to establish a Turmeric Board. He said no assistance was given to the migrant workers of Gulf countries and they have been cheated by the TRS Government.

He said the administration of both PM Modi and KCR were replica of each other.

Uttam Kumar Reddy, in his speech, said that the Congress party would win all 9 seats of erstwhile Nizamabad district. He said there was wave across Telangana in favour of Congress party and it would form the next government on December 12.

The meeting at Kamareddy was also addressed by senior leaders including K. Jana Reddy, S. Jaipal Reddy, Mohammed Ali Shabbir and Ponnam Prabhakar. Rahul Gandhi’s speech was translated into Telugu by TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan. (INN)
