Congress condemns BJP for challenging Rahul Gandhi’s citizenship

Hyderabad: All India Congress Committee (AICC) Spokesperson Dr. Sravan Dasoju has strongly condemned the BJP Government for triggering a baseless controversy over the citizenship of Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing a press conference at AICC Headquarters in New Delhi on Wednesday, Sravan slammed the Union Home Ministry for sending a notice to Rahul Gandhi over the citizenship issue. “It was due to the negligence of Union Home Ministry that 44 CRPF jawans lost their lives in Pulwama in February this year.

Today 16 security personnel were killed in a naxal attack in Gadchiroli and Union Home Ministry is looking helpless in preventing such attacks.

Instead of focussing on ensuring internal security, Union Home Ministry is turning out to be a political tool into the hands of BJP leaders,” he said while condemning Home Minister Rajnath Singh for the notice sent to Rahul Gandhi. He asked whether Rajnath Singh was in a state of madness when he approved the move.

“Entire world knows that Rahul Gandhi was born in India. His father (Rajiv Gandhi), grandmother (Indira Gandhi) and great grandfather (Pandit Nehru) had served as Prime Ministers of India. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have sacrificed their lives for the country.

It is highly regrettable that the Home Ministry had served a notice on citizenship to Rahul Gandhi who himself had served as Member of Parliament for three terms since 2004,” Sravan said adding that it was shameful for the BJP to defame a person belonging to the family of martyrs.

Sravan said that the Congress party has already released documents to counter the baseless allegations being levelled by the BJP. He said that the ‘Certificate of Incorporation’ of the firm in UK, Backoops has clearly mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s nationality as ‘Indian’.

Further, he said that the Supreme Court, in 2015, has already dismissed a petition challenging Rahul Gandhi’s status as an Indian. He said as part of its malicious campaign, the BJP has raised a dead issue in the midst of elections to divert people’s attention.

Calling Prime Minister Narender Modi and his team as ‘mentally bankrupt’, he said BJP has been targeting Rahul Gandhi only due to fear of a humiliating defeat.

“PM Modi has made lot of fake promises including Rs. 15 lakh in each account from the black money to be brought back from foreign countries. He also promised to reduce fuel prices, create 10 crore jobs, provide better MSP to farmers, etc.,

However, he failed to fulfil any single promise and instead of giving an answer to people on unkept promises, all BJP leaders are resorting on mudslinging on the Congress President who had exposed their failures,” he said.

Sravan said Rahul Gandhi has exposed Rafale scam and proved that ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’. “Rahul Gandhi created awareness in the entire country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and echoed the voices and sentiments of crores of people who were hit due to demonitisation and GST.

The rising popularity of Congress party, especially in the Hindi belt like Uttar Pradesh and other States which will face polling in the 5th and 6th face, has sent tremors among BJP leaders. Therefore, entire Modi Team has stooped down to the lowest level of targeting Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

However, he expressed confidence that the Congress party would emerge victorious in the Hindi heartland and BJP would soon face extinction despite its leaders resorting to cheap political stunts. (INN)

Congress will eradicate poverty in next five years: Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi promised that his party, if voted to power in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, would eradicate poverty from India in the next five years.

Rahul Gandhi made the promise while addressing three public meetings at Zaheerabad, Wanaparthy and Huzurnagar on Monday.

Alleging that Prime Minister Narender Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao did ‘unyay’ (injustice) with people during the last five years, he said that the Congress party would undo the injustice through ‘Nyay’ (Nyontam Aay Yojna), the Minimum Income Guarantee scheme, wherein Rs. 72,000 would be given annually to 20% of poorest of the poor in the country.

“Modi made a false promise of depositing Rs. 15 lakh in bank accounts of all Indians. But Congress party does not speak lies. Note economists and our think tank have designed the ‘Nyay’ scheme which is totally practical. Therefore, we guarantee that Rs. 3.60 lakh will be deposited in the accounts of 20% poor people in the next five years,” he said.

The Congress president also promised that nearly 22 lakh vacancies in government departments across the country would be filled by March 2020. He also promised to implement the Women Reservation Bill giving 33% reservation to women in Assemblies and Parliament.

Further, he said reservation would be given to women in jobs and their Self Help Groups would be provided financial assistance. He also assured that no permissions would be required for the first three years for anyone to start a new business.

Addressing the meeting at Zaheerbad, Rahul Gandhi said that the people of Telangana have always supported the Congress party in difficult times. He said people of Medak have also elected Indira Gandhi as MP.

Attacking PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi said a ‘Chowkidar’ has become the Prime Minister five years ago. However, he said Modi has been serving as ‘Chowkidar’ of Anil Ambani, Mehul Chowkasi, Nirvav Modi and other ‘big thieves’. He alleged that Modi has given away Rs. 30,000 crore of public money to Anil Ambani.

His acts have changed the slogan of ‘Ache Din Aayenge’ to ‘Chowkidar Chor Hai’. He said PM Modi has helped only 15-20 rich industrialists by giving them Rs. 3.5 lakh crore of public money which is equivalent to 10-15 years budget of MNREGA.

Instead of giving promises 2 crore jobs and better prices to farmers for their produce, he alleged that Modi has only spread hatred among the people of India.

“Through ‘Nyay’ scheme we have decided to give Rs. 3.60 lakh to 5 crore poor families in the next five years. PM Modi did a surgical strike on poor people. But ‘Nyay’ will be our surgical strike against poverty,” he said.

The Congress president alleged that PM Modi did nothing and just roams around in different parts of the country. “While China creates 50,000 jobs in 24 hours, Modi snatches existing 27,000 jobs. He made common people stand in long queues due to demonitisation.

Have you seen ay rich individual or those having black money stand in those queues. Even an 8-year-old boy will tell that demonitisation was a disaster. All small traders and petty businessmen lost their livelihood. It was not a fight against corruption or black money.

But Modi took away money from you and gave it to his rich friends and converted their black money into white,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi also announced that the Congress Government would increase funding on health and education. “We will spend 6% of GDP on education. New colleges, universities and institutions will be established. Scholarships, which have been stopped by Modi Govt, will be restored.

New hospitals will be set up to ensure affordable treatment for all. We will end hatred and unite the nation. Modi targets the poor, but we will attack poverty,” he said.

The Congress president described Modi and KCR as partners and reminded that the Telangana Chief Minister supported BJP Government in demonitisation, GST and all other decisions. He said Modi was having the remote control of TRS and KCR.

“Who is fighting against Modi? Who raised Rafale issue? Has KCR ever spoke about Rafale? Has KCR ever said Chowkidar Chor Hai?” he asked while stating that voting for TRS was like voting for BJP and RSS.

Describing the verbal dual between KCR and Modi as ‘election drama’, he said PM Modi always attacked him in the Parliament and not the TRS. He advised people not to waste their vote by using it for TRS.

Rahul Gandhi said that the Lok Sabha elections were a fight between two ideologies. While one ideology promotes hatred and division, the other guarantees benefits for everyone. He said unemployment and farmers plight were biggest problems. However, he said PM Modi does not speak about them.

He promised that the Congress Government would provide all support to farmers and food processing units and godowns would be established close to their locations.

While addressing a meeting at Huzurnagar, Rahul Gandhi had promised safe drinking water to floride hit areas and also a super speciality hospital.

Rahul Gandhi also reminded people that it was the Congress party which created Telangana State. “Sonia Gandhi Ji has helped you in Telangana formation. Don’t forget her,” he appealed to the people. (INN)

Rahul Gandhi will unveil outline of Congress manifesto tomorrow: Gudur

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy informed that Congress president Rahul Gandhi would unveil the outline and broader view of Congress party’s manifesto for Lok Sabha elections in his meeting at Zaheerabad on Monday.

Narayana Reddy, in a media statement on Sunday, said that the Congress president would speak on upon various concerning common man, especially youth, at Zaheerabad meeting which is expected to witness a huge turnout.

“Rahul Gandhi has already unveiled a few major schemes like ‘Nyay’ (Nyuntam Aay Yojna) which aims to provide Rs. 72,000 annually to poorest of poor families across the country.

This will benefit more than 50 lakh poor people in Telangana. He has also announced Congress party’s plans to boost economy through creation of lakhs of jobs for rural youth.

He is expected to unveil a roadmap for transformation of agriculture sector by helping the farmers in the right manner,” he said.

The Congress leader said that the party’s manifesto would not just be a vision document, but a strategic plan to address all core issues. “Rahul Gandhi does not believe in making fake and tall promises. Whatever he says, he ensures that it gets implemented,” he said adding that the Congress party has a great track record of fulfilling all electoral promises.

“When UPA Chairperson Smt. Sonia Gandhi Ji promised statehood for Telangana, she ensured that a new State is carved out of Andhra Pradesh despite the fact that the Congress party suffered huge political setback,” he said.

Narayana Reddy said Prime Minister Narender Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao have openly cheated the people with fake promises and they still intend to continue with their cheating spree in Lok Sabha elections.

“While PM Modi is silent about his failed promises, KCR wants to win the elections so that he could become Prime Minister and make his son Chief Minister.

For them, elections are a mean to grab power. But for Congress party, elections are an opportunity to discuss people’s issues and address them appropriately. For the same reason, Rahul Gandhi is speaking with confidence on all issues and people can clearly see a visionary and a statesman in Rahul Gandhi,” he said.

The Congress leader said that the party cadre was fully rejuvenated and it would ensure party’s victory on majority of seats in Telangana State.

Meanwhile, Gudur Narayana Reddy strongly condemned ex-MLC Ponguleti Sudhakhar Reddy’s criticism on the Congress party and its leadership in his resignation letter released to the media today. “Sudhakar Reddy was given several opportunities by the Congress party although he never won an election in his lifetime. He had served as an MLC till March 29.

However, just two days after the expiry of his term, he resigned from the party while levelling baseless allegations against the leadership. This shows his opportunistic approach and greed for power. He is apparently trying to please KCR by criticising the Congress party during the peak of election campaign.

His statement holds no value as everyone knows that he is trying to gain something from TRS by attacking the same Congress party which nurtured him for over three decades,” he said.

Narayana Reddy said that the exit of some selfish and opportunist leaders would not harm the Congress party. “Several attempts have been made by TRS and other parties in the past to damage the Congress party through defections.

Unlike TRS or BJP, Congress is a party based on strong ideologies and people get associated with it not for the posts or power, but to serve people. Therefore, Sudhakar Reddy’s resignation and exit from the party would not have any impact in Khammam or anywhere else,” he said. (INN)

Rahul Gandhi promises to deliver Telangana of people’s dreams

Kodad: “We will deliver Telangana of your dreams. It will be your voice that will control the State. Telangana will not be run by one family, but by the people,” promised Congress president Rahul Gandhi while addressing a mammoth gathering at Bypass Ground in Kodad on the last day of election campaign on Wednesday.

Lakhs of people attended the meeting and the gathering was huge that it led to traffic jam on Vijaywada Highway for several hours.

Showing people clouds in the sky, Rahul Gandhi said similar clouds have formed in Telangana politics and there would be a cyclone of change soon.

‘Ye badlav ka toofan aayega’, he said and added, “We want to stand with you to complete the task of building a new golden Telangana. We want to listen to you and run the government,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi had begun the speech saying that the people of Telangana had seen a dream about five years ago. “Women, farmers and youth have shed their sweat and blood to achieve statehood.

But all their dreams have been shattered by KCR,” he said. People of Telangana did not get ‘Neellu, Nidhulu and Niyamakulu (water, jobs and funds) and also lost their self-respect, he said.

The Congress president said KCR had come to Nalgonda a few days ago and he announced that he wanted to adopt the district. “I think wherever he goes, he says the same thing. If you want to adopt, then adopt the farmers’ of Telangana, adopt youth of Telangana and adopt the families who lost their loved ones for statehood cause.

More than 4,500 farmers committed suicide in the last four-and-a-half years. Nearly 33 lakh youth are jobless. There are lakhs of people waiting for double bed room houses and three acres of land. You should adopt all of them,” Rahul Gandhi told KCR.

Rahul Gandhi said TRS Govt did neither helped the farmers nor youth. He said KCR escalated the cost of various projects in the name of re-designing and therefore, people of Telangana gave him a new name “Khao Commission Rao”.

He said while every family in Telangana has been pushed into debts of Rs. 2.5 lakh each, the income of KCR’s son KTR has increased by over 400% in the last four years.

“Only KCR family got all the benefits and people of Telangana suffered only losses. You are drinking mineral water, but people of Nalgonda are still drinking flouride-affected water,” he said.

He announced that the Sriram Sagar project would be revived and people of erstwhile Nalgonda district would be provided safe drinking water.

Rahul Gandhi said KCR during his first visit to Nalgonda had promised to establish a hospital. He came to Nalgonda a few days ago and repeated the promise. “What you left unfilled, will be implemented by us and we will construct the hospital for people of Nalgonda,” he said.

He also promised to implement crop loan waiver, better prices of all crops, implementation of Land Acquisition Act and restoration of powers to Gram Panchayats.

“Chief Minister of our government will spend 18 hours to provide jobs. Youth power is being wasted now and we will utilise by giving jobs. All jobless youth will be given Rs. 3,000 allowance every month. 20% of budget will be allocated for education.

There will be new colleges, universities and schools and your children will get admissions in all the institutions. Every mandal will get a 30-bedded hospital and people will get free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh,” he promised and said that the Congress-led People’s Front would create a new golden Telangana with people’s power.

Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narender Modi of creating a divide among people on the basis of religion and region. He said Modi has reduced the power and might of India. Calling TRS as T-RSS, he said after defeating KCR in Hyderabad, the coalition would defeat Modi in Delhi.

He said Modi has given public money to Anil Ambani, Neerav Modi and Mallaya. “We will bring back money from them and distribute it among people,” he said.

Praising the spirit of people of Telangana, he said people had achieved Telangana and now it was the responsibility of all to make it prosper. “On every product, we see the tag ‘Made in China’. I want to see the tag ‘Made in Telangana’ and ‘Made in Nalgonda’. That will be the real dream of Telangana,” he said. (INN)

KCR has no respect for people: Rahul Gandhi

Hyderabad: Congress president Rahul Gandhi has alleged that caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has no respect for people of Telangana.

Addressing massive public meetings at Gadwal of Jogulamba Gadwal district and Tandur of Vikarabad district on Monday, Rahul Gandhi referred to the comments made by KCR in his speech at Adilabad wherein he stated that people are not mature enough to elect the right candidates.

By saying so, Rahul Gandhi said KCR has insulted the same people who made him the Chief Minister. He said KCR does not have respect for anyone.

He demanded that KCR must apologise with the people for making such remarks. Further, he said KCR also owes an apology with farmers, youth and other sections for shattering their dreams of Telangana.

In both the meetings, Rahul Gandhi began his speech by reminding people of the dream they’ve seen for a new State while aspiring for a bright future. “Your dream of having ‘Nellu, Needhulu, Niyamakulu’ (water, funds and jobs) has been broken and you’ve been cheated by KCR.

Palamuru Ranga Reddy project, approved by previous Congress regime was of about Rs. 10,000 crore. But TRS Government re-designed it escalate the cost to Rs. 60,000. KCR gave thousands of crores to contractors and his friends. But you did not get the water,” he said.

“We thought that new State of Telangana will show the way to other States. We expected that the first government of new State would take measures to ensure a bright future for youth, farmers and women. But all those dreams were shattered by KCR,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi said KCR had indulged in so much of corruption and irregularities that people have given him a new name – ‘Khao Commission Rao’. With his wrong policies, KCR has pushed a revenue-surplus Telangana State into huge debts of Rs. 2.5 lakh crore.

While Telangana had a revenue surplus of Rs. 17,000 Crore at the time of its formation, today every family of Telangana is having a debt burden of about Rs. 2.5 lakh. Surprisingly, he said KCR’s son and caretaker minister K. Tarakarama Rao’s income grew by more than 400% in the last four years.

Expressing concern over rising rate of unemployment in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi said nearly 30 lakh qualified youth were jobless in the State. “How many jobs have been given by KCR in the last four-and-a-half years. Entire Telangana knows that KCR has ruined the careers of lakhs of youth by not delaying the Fee Reimbursement.

The original dream was for ‘Bangaru Telangana’ (Golden Telangana). But KCR has transformed it into ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (golden family).

The Congress president blamed the TRS Government for suicide by thousands of farmers. He said that the previous UPA-Government brought new laws to protect the lands of farmers and Tribals. However, KCR has either suspended or weakened those laws in Telangana.

As per the Central Act, no land was to be taken without the consent of farmers or Adivasis and displaced farmers were entitled for compensation of land up to four times the market value. However, KCR Govt forcibly snatched away those lands.

The rights of Tribals on their ‘Jal, Jangal and Zameen’ (water, forest and land) were suspended. Farmers were arrested and chained whey they held protest demanding proper price for their produce, he said.

Rahul Gandhi promised that the Congress-led People’s Front Government would waive off crop loans up to Rs. 2 lakh in a single take. “If Prime Minister Narender Modi could waive off Rs. 3.5 lakh crore of 15 rich businessmen in the country, then the Congress can waive off crop loans of poor farmers,” he said.

Referring to KCR’s comment that he would take rest if TRS party is voted out in next elections, Rahul Gandhi said it would be better for people if KCR takes rest. However, he said KCR would take rest in his Rs. 300 crore palatial bungalow, poor people who were hit due to his broken promises could not rest.

“You’ve promised 22 lakh houses and delivered less than 5,000 double bed room units. You did not give 3 acres of land poor Dalit and Girijan families. If you had some respect for people, then you would have constructed promised houses for them and today those people too would have taken some rest,” said.

Rahul Gandhi said if Congress party comes to power, then it would fulfil all those promises. “We will give Rs. 5 lakh for construction of own house. Jobless Youth will be given monthly allowance of Rs. 3,000.

Each mandal will get a 30-bedded hospital and people will get free treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh. STs will be reservation in jobs and education in proportionate to their population and the Congress Government would support and pursue the SC categorisation issue,” he said.

He promised that all women Self Help Groups would be given a grant of Rs. 1 lakh each and Rs. 500 crore fund would be earmarked to help women entrepreneurs. “KCR took way your money for his own family and friends. But we will use it to provide you hospitals and education.

Those who participated in the statehood agitation will be provided jobs. We will spend 20% of budget on education to establish new colleges, universities and enable your children grow up in their lives and careers,” he said.

The Congress president said that the Indian politics was witnessing a fight between Congress and its allies with BJP-led alliance. Similarly, in Telangana, Congress-led People’s Front was fighting with TRS, which is a secret ally of BJP and open friend of MIM. Therefore, TRS, BJP and MIM are on one side while Congress, TDP, TJS, CPI and other groups are on another side.

“Look at all my speeches. I’ve always attacked Modi, BJP and RSS. Congress party and I did not move back by an inch in fighting against them. But KCR never speaks against Modi because he knows that the Telangana’s remote was in Modi’s control.

KCR never dared to speak against anti-people decisions like demonetisation and GST,” he said. “You (KCR) cannot confront Modi because of your corruption,” he said.

Similarly, Rahul Gandhi said Modi attacks him in all his speeches. “He criticise me, makes fun of me and even attack my family. But Modi never speaks anything on KCR because he knows that KCR’s party is not TRS, but it is T-RSS,” he pointed out.

Attacking the MIM, Rahul Gandhi said that the MIM had contested the elections in Maharashtra and Assam only to help BJP win. While TRS is the B-Team of BJP, MIM is the C-Team, he said.

He said T-RSS and MIM’s only aim is to ensure continuance of Modi’s rule in Delhi. “TRS and BJP are partners and they were working together. But we will end this partnership in next elections. We will first defeat TRS in Telangana and then we will defeat Modi in Delhi,” he said.

In his brief speeches at Gadwal and Tandur, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Capt. N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress-led People’s Front was all set to win the next elections and would take charge on December 12.

He said that the next government would work to fulfil the people’s aspirations in a transparent and accountable manner. He appealed the people to ensure that all candidates of People’s Front win with huge majority of votes.

While speaking at Tandur, Uttam Kumar Reddy promised that Viqarabad would be brought back under Charminar Zone and Viqarabad town would be developed as satellite city. He also promised to construct a by-pass road to reduce pollution being caused due to movement of vehicles of cement factories.

He said Tandur Stone industry was badly hit due to GST and the next government would take measures to reduce the GST. He also promised a Government Degree College, upgrading of government hospital, establishment of ESI hospital and construction of Road-over-Bridge and Road-Under-Bridge in old Tandur.

He said irrigation facilities would be improved with all farmers getting water for cultivation. (INN)
