MANUU wins Triangular Cricket Tournament

Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University’s cricket team registered one more emphatic win over University of Hyderabad to win the final match of first Triangular Cricket Tournament. MANUU beat HCU by 68 runs.

MANUU won the toss and elected to bat and scored 189 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 25 overs. Shahidul Islam scored highest 51 runs with 8 boundaries and Mohd. Rafiqe Khan scored 48 runs with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. For HCU, Rakesh took 2 wickets for 30 runs in 5 overs.

In reply HCU team was bundled out at 121 runs in 20.4 overs. Hari scored highest 48 runs with 7 boundaries. Zeeshan Jamali took 3 wickets for just 11 runs in 3.4 overs whereas Rafiqe and Farhan took 2 wickets each for MANUU.

Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU presented the medals & trophy. In his address, he said that participation with the spirit of sportsmanship is more important than loosing or winning the game. In both cases, you learn and grow a lot in your life, he added.

Silver Medals were given to the runner up, HCU cricket team. The First Azad Triangular Cricket Trophy and gold medals were presented to winning MANUU Team. Earlier, Dr. M. A. Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU played some shots on the bowling of Prof. Abul Kalam, Chariman, Sports Monitoring Committee.

Prof. Abul Kalam while appreciating all the players of tournament commented that all three teams, Nizam CC, HCU and MANUU, showed maximum civility in language, behaviour and displayed more aggression in their performances which made the tournament a great success.

Mr. Muajhid Ali, Assistant Director I/c (DPE&Sports) presented a brief report of the tournament and conducted the function.

Mr. Mohammad Musharraf Khan, Cricket Coach MANUU, Mr. Syed Muzaffar Ali, Former International Footballer & MANUU Football team coach, Dr. Mohammad Habeebullah and scores of students from MANUU and HCU were also present on the occasion.
