Telangana SIO condemns suspension of University of Hyderabad teachers

Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO), Telangana Zone condemned “illegal and unjustified” suspension of University of Hyderabad (UoH) teachers.

Couple of days back, the UoH administrative council suspended Prof. K.Y Ratnam and Dr.Tathagata Sengupta, as both were associated with the Rohith Vemula movement in the campus and were vocal in pro justice men.

It is to be noted that Prof. Appa Rao Podile, after three months of his comeback to the UoH campus, is trying to justify the latest decision of suspension citing “a Government Rule”.

“SIO believes that it is such an irony that a person responsible for the death of a dalit scholar exercising his power as Vice-Chancellor with complete impunity provided by the BJP-led MHRD and Central Government to take arbitrary decisions against students and teachers protesting for ‪#‎JusticeforRohith,” the organization said.

The SIO expressed its solidarity with the suspended professors and all other students and teachers associated with the Rohith movement, and also termed Prof Appa Rao’s move to suspend faculty  as “a fascist and dictatorial rule”.

Prof Ratnam and Dr Sengupta had been critical of RSS and have always stood by the demands of justice for the Dalit students.

SIO demanded immediate revoking of suspension of Prof Ratnam and Dr Sengupta, requested the government to sack HCU Vice Chancellor Prof Appa Rao for his “anti-student and anti dalit activities”. In addition, SIO demanded justice for Rohit Vemula.
