Hyderabad: At least 15 people were killed and many other were injured when Toofan van had a head-on-collision with a private bus near Veldurthi in Kurnool district on Saturday.
According to preliminary reports, accident occurred when then private bus of SRS Travels lost control while trying to save a two-wheeler and hit a road divider before having a collision with the Toofan van on the Hyderabad-Bangalore National Highway.
Nearly 17-20 passengers were seated in the van. Of them, 13 died on the spot while two others died on the way to the hospital. The injured persons have been shifted to a hospital in Kurnool.
The deceased persons were residents of Ramapuram village in Shantinagar mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao expressed deep shock over the loss of human lives in the tragic road accident and instructed the district collector of Jogulamba Gadwal to provide better treatment to the injured who are admitted in Kurnool Hospital. (INN)
