TS Edu Minister Srihari to consider school fee regulation: HSPA

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education, Kadiyam Srihari appreciated Hyderabad Schools Parents Association (HSPA) on the need for school fee regulation, while assuring them that he will explore if the fee hike for current academic year can be stayed.

In the one-hour-long meeting, rounds of discussions took place on the issue and the Telangana’s minister made several important points, according to a release from HSPA.

Some of the major points made by the Minister were:

  1. That he is fully convinced of the need for School Fee Regulation and shall make all efforts to bring it in. However, it might take some time to do the same.
  2. Nonetheless, as an immediate measure the Govt. will make all efforts to implement the existing GOs and Rules.
  3. That he will explore if the HSPA demand of freeze on fee hike for this year can be met. (HSPA drew a lot of solace from this assurance and will wait to hear more on it).
  4. That the replies to the notices served on 12 schools were not found satisfactory and hence fresh notices communicating the same have been sent to these schools.
  5. That the fresh circular dated 01.06.2016 sent by the Education Department to all schools, wherein strict compliance has been asked for on a) School Managing Committees b) Parent Teacher Association c) Fee hikes in consultation with SMC & PTA d) Auditing of Accounts; and e) submission of the minutes of the meetings and Audited accounts for each year – will be strictly enforced.
  6. In addition to making aforementioned points, the Minister reportedly asked for certain details from HSPA and promised to discuss the issue again with them in a few weeks time. The meeting was facilitated by MLA Ramesh Chennamaneni.

HSPA noted that all CBSE/ICSE/IGCSE school also fall under full regulatory authority of Telangana State government.
