Telangana registers first Corona death, six more tests positive

Hyderabad: Health Minister Etala Rajender on Saturday confirmed the first death due to Coronavirus in Telangana State. He also informed that six new Coronavirus positive cases were registered today which increased the total number of cases in Telangana to 65.

Addressing a press conference the Health Minister said that a 74-year-old man was admitted in Global Hospital, Khairtabad for various health complaints.

He had passed away two days and the body was sent to Gandhi Hospital mortuary. It was found after the test that he was Coronavirus positive. He said other members of his family have been shifted to a Quarantine Centre.

The Health Minister said that four members of a family from Qutubullahpur tested positive for Coronavirus today.

Etala said that so far, Coronavirus cases have spread only due to contacts. Therefore, he said people should be extra cautious and stay indoors. He said that the Health Department was highly alert and taking all measures to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

He said that the Health Department staff was working in extreme and war-like situation. Therefore, he said stern action would be taken against those who are pressurising the doctors and other medical staff members to vacate the houses.

He reiterated the appeal to those who returned from foreign countries recently to report to the authorities to prevent the spread of disease further.

He also appealed the people to pray at their homes instead of going to mosque or temple and said that people should not turn the places of worship as centres for spreading Coronavirus. He said people should follow the restrictions of lockdown and behave responsibly to protect the entire society. (INN)
