Elaborate arrangements in place for Sunday-Funday at Tank Bund

Hyderabad: The Sunday-Funday event on traffic-free Tank Bund road on 12th September received a tremendous response with citizens thronging the place in huge numbers with family and friends enjoying every aspect of the event. Following that successful event, MA&UD Department and HMDA is excited to be back with another fun filled Sunday-Funday event for coming Sunday i.e. 26th September.

A number of activities and performances are planned this week as well to mesmerize the public across all age groups and give them a unique and memorable experience. A band performance, orchestra, fireworks, cultural activities, shopping, games and eateries will all be present at one place come Sunday.

With this week being celebrated as RPF Raising Day week, the official band of the Railway Protection Force will be performing live this Sunday. Having received accolades in all major events they have performed in, it will be a treat for the citizens to witness them live. Apart from this, there will be an orchestra playing some famous telugu and hindi songs commemorating late Sri. SP Balasubrahmanyam garu. There will also be livewire artists showcasing their beatboxing and rapping skills which was very well received last time as well. In addition to this, there will be three 20-artists team performing OgguDolu, Gussadi and BonalaKolatam all along the Tank bund stretch making it truly a cultural carnival.

In between these performances, we have planned two 1-minute long Firework shows which can be enjoyed by the public standing anywhere on the Tank Bund road. Like last time, there will be clown performers, jugglers, unicyclists, etc engaging the public especially kids with their activities all along the stretch.

With more than 15000 saplings distributed for free last time, the Urban Forestry wing of HMDA will again be setting up stalls for free distribution of more than 30 species of saplings. Free masks for the public will also be provided by HMDA.

For the shopping lovers this time, a number of stalls selling bangles, artificial jewellery, live bangles, pearl sets and atthar will be present, all coming directly from the Old city of Hyderabad. In addition to these, there will be Handloom and Handicraft stalls by TSCO. The event would be incomplete without food and beverage stalls for the public to indulge in and for that, there will be stalls serving everything from chaat to kebabs. Necessary arrangements for Mobile Public Toilets and dustbins are also being made.

With entertainment and activities planned for people of all age groups, this well-rounded Sunday-Funday event is sure to enthrall all the visitors.

The event, however, is subject to the timings and impact of cyclone Gulab and people are requested not to come out should heavy rains occur due to cyclone Gulab and in that case, Sunday-Funday might have to be rescheduled for next Sunday if heavy rains occur on 26th Sep evening. (INN)
