Governor calls for quality higher education

Hyderabad: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Thursday emphasized the need for quality in higher education.

“It is vital that our students get access to quality higher education to meet the global level competition,” she said.

The Governor was addressing the Executive Council members, academic administrators and others at the Mahatma Gandhi University in Nalgonda.

Stressing on the importance of creating academic and research facilities that meet the global standards, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that in order to face the global completion, we need to train our students in tune with the global benchmarks.

The Governor, who is also the Chancellor of State universities, called upon the academic administrators to work for imparting of quality higher education in our universities.

“It should be the collective endeavour of all the stakeholders to transform our universities in the State as the Centers of Excellence in higher education,” she added.

As part of the programme, she released the pamphlet to create awareness on “Chancellor Connects Alumni” initiative launched by the Governor to enlist the support of the alumni for the all-round development of the universities in the State.

The Governor also unveiled the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the MG University campus.

Governor opens IRCS Hall:  Earlier, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan inaugurated the conference hall in the Indian Red Cross Society, Nalgonda branch, building, and reviewed the activities related to the society.

She had also opened the blood donation camp and appreciated the efforts of the IRCS for organizing regular blood donation camps and ensuring the supply of blood to save lives.

Performs puja at Chaya Someshwara Temple: As part of her visit to the Nalgonda district, the Governor visited the historic Chaya Someshwara Temple at Panagal and had performed the special puja to the presiding deity sri Chaya Someshwara.

She said that she was amazed at the marvelous architecture of the historic temple known for its mysterious construction value.

Secretary to Governor K. Surendra Mohan and other senior officials accompanied the Governor during her visit to the Nalgonda district. (INN)
