National Science Day online Lecture held at MANUU

Hyderabad: “Nanoparticles are one, two, and three-dimensional structures and have characteristic properties due to their specific configurations. The nanoparticles can be prepared from any material which can have better usability and sustainability”, said Prof. Shamim Ahmad, eminent scientist and former Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi, while delivering an online lecture organized by the School of Sciences (SoS), Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) in connection with National Science Day on 28th February, 2022. He spoke on the topic “Green Nanotechnology – A sustainable Development” as the keynote speaker of the programme. This year’s theme was “Integrated approach in Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future”.

Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-Chancellor, presided over the lecture.

In his lecture, Prof. Ahmad highlighted several innovations and discoveries of sciences in the field of Nanotechnology and their application in biology and medical science. While introducing the formation of nanoparticles,  he emphasised on plant-mediated synthesis of silver and gold nanoparticles for antibacterial and anti-cancer applications and converting medicinal plants into nanoparticle compounds. Prof. Ahmed also talked about Carbon Nanoparticles and their various applications and role of these particles in printing. He shed light on the functions of nanoparticles in targeted drug and gene delivery and their application in bio-sensing, bacterial imaging, radiotherapy, phototherapy, and cellular imaging. The leading scientist also predicted that in the future these particles have a vast scope and can change the life of human beings through new techniques.

Prof. Ainul Hasan in his presidential remarks thanked Prof. Shamim Ahmad for his content-rich and thought provoking lecture. He highlighted the significance of the integrated approach of Science and Technology. It also fulfills the holistic approach of New Education Policy 2020, he said.
