Telangana CM to cancel Eamcet 2, DGP submits report

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has reportedly decided to cancel the EAMCET-2 exams following the leakage of question paper.

The decision was taken after DGP Anurag Sharma submitted a report confirming leakage of question paper which revolved around Rs. 100 crore transaction benefiting nearly 100 students.

Subsequently, the State Government has decided to re-conduct EAMCET in the month of August.

Besides giving fee exemption, the candidates might be extended financial assistance for coaching. A detailed announcement in this regard is likely to be made on Monday.

The Crime Investigation Department of Telangana Police on Friday arrested a broker in connection with TS EAMCET-II-2016 (medical) question paper leakage case.

The accused, Shaik Ramesh @ Raheem, 52 yrs, was arrested at around 4 PM today at Boduppal. According to CID, Ramesh procured 14 students from various places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and took them to Pune camp, where they were given practice with leaked TS EAMCET-II-2016 (medical) question papers.

So far he collected a cash of Rs. 1.73 crores from the parents of the 14 students and of this amount he paid Rs. 1.2 crores to one broker who took students to Pune camp. Rs. 15 lakhs was deposited in Bank account of his friend. An amount of Rs. 37.5 lakhs was seized from his possession.

Efforts are going on to apprehend the other brokers and kingpins of the question paper leakage, the CID said. (INN)
