One dead, several injured in ‘Agnipath’ protest at Secunderabad Rly Stn

Hyderabad: One youngster was killed and another suffered critical bullet injury when the police opened fire to control the violence and arson at the Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday during the protest against Central Govt’s new recruitment ‘Agnipath’. At least 12 others were also injured in the violence at the Secunderabad Railway Station.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Damodara Rakesh, a resident of Dabeerpet village in the Warangal district. Another youth, Mohan (20) of Nizamsagar in Kamareddy district, also sustained a bullet injury.

The other injured persons, admitted at the Gandhi Hospital, have been identified as Jagannath Rangaswamy of Kurnool, K Rakesh of Karimnagar, Lakkam Vinay and J Srikanth of Mahabubnagar, A Kumar of Warangal, G Parasuram of Kamareddy, Nagender Babu of Khammam, E Vidyasagar of Komaram Bheem Asifabad, S Lakshman Reddy of Nalgonda D Mahesh of Vikarabad and Bharat Kumar. All of them are aged about 20-21 years.

One police official Chandru, 42, was also injured in the violence at the Secunderabad Railway Station.

According to sources, police had to fire 15 rounds in the air to disperse when some agitating youth resorted to largescale violence and arson. (INN)
