Telangana ahead in advance kidney treatment for poor: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Health and Family Welfare Minister T Harish Rao said that Telangana was ahead in providing Dialysis and Kidney care treatment to the patients. He said that Telangana was the first state to introduce a Single Use Filter Dialysis system in government hospitals which was limited to only corporate hospitals in the past.

He inaugurated the advanced medical machinery installed in the Neuro section of the NIMS hospital on Saturday. He said that doctors remain students forever and they need to up their skills as per the changes happening in the medical field.                                

Harish Rao said that dialysis treatment was being provided to the poor people under Arogyasree Scheme in the corporate hospitals without them needing to spend a single rupee. He said that 10,000 persons were getting dialysis across the state every day.

He said that dialysis patients were getting a free bus pass, pensions and free medicines as well and the government spent Rs 100 crore every year. The minister informed that the government was spending Rs 1000 crore every year for the Arogyasree scheme.The Minister said that state-of-the-art Kidney transplantation facilities were available in NIMS hospital. He ensured that NIMS would be further developed. (INN)
