Kanti Velugu second phase from Khammam: Harish Rao

Hyderabad: Health Minister Harish Rao said that the second phase of the ambitious programme Kanti Velugu will be launched in Khammam on the 18th of January.

Harish Rao said that Chief Ministers of other states will also attend this program along with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He was speaking at the Kanti Velugu Awareness program held at the Siddipet District Collector’s office on Tuesday. As per the instructions of CM KCR, we are starting the second phase of the program so that no one should suffer from eye problems in the state, he said.

He said that the second phase of Kanti Velugu, which will be held from January 18 to June 30, will be formally started. The minister said that the eye examination will be done from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. It is said that 35 additional doctors have been recruited for the district. In the morning, 10 lakh eyeglasses have already reached each district.

Harish Rao said that the government would spend Rs. 250 crores for the program. He said that 45 medical teams and three additional teams have been formed in the district. He said that there was no mass eye examination program in the world except in Telangana.MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLCs Farooq Hussain, Yadava Reddy, ZP Chairman Roja Sharma, MLAs Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, and others attended the meeting. (INN)
