One crore saplings plantation as part of Vajrotsavam

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has launched a one-crore sapling plantation program across the state to mark the closing ceremony of India’s Independence Diamond Jubilee, also known as Vajrotsavam.

The program was launched by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao at Forestrek Park in Manchirevula, Moinabad mandal of Rangareddy district. The park has been developed as a part of the 360-acre urban lung space with a new theme that provides mental excitement and a pleasant atmosphere.

The CM was accompanied by Ministers Harish Rao, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and MLA Padma Devender Reddy. They planted saplings at the park and urged the people to participate in the plantation drive.

The government has set a target of planting one crore saplings in a single day across the state. The plantation program will be held in schools, colleges, government offices, public places, and private lands.

The government has also released a mobile app called “Haritha Haram” to facilitate the plantation drive. The app provides information on the types of saplings that can be planted, the best time to plant, and the care that needs to be taken.

The one-crore sapling plantation program is part of the Telangana government’s flagship Haritha Haram program, which was launched in 2015. Under the program, the government has planted over 2.66 billion saplings across the state.

The Haritha Haram program has helped to improve the state’s green cover and has also provided employment opportunities to thousands of people. The program has also been recognized by the United Nations as one of the largest tree plantation programs in the world. (INN)
