Hyderabad: The All India Majlis Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has released the first list of 6 candidates for the Telangana assembly elections, in which 4 sitting MLAs have been renominated and two new faces have been introduced.
The new candidates are former GHMC Mayor Majid Hussain (Nampally) and former Mayor Mir Zulfiqar Ali (Charminar). The sitting MLAs who have been retained are Akbaruddin Owaisi (Chandrayangutta), Ahmed Balala (Malakpet) and Kausar Mohiuddin (Karwan).
AIMIM President and MP from Hyderabad Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi announced the names of the candidates at a press conference at Darul Salaam today. He said that AIMIM would contest from nine constituencies this time, two more than the previous election. The other two constituencies are Rajendra Nagar and Jubilee Hills.
Asaduddin Owaisi said that the party had decided not to give tickets to the current MLAs Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri and Mumtaz Ahmed Khan.He said that the selection of candidates from the remaining three constituencies, Bahadurpura, Jubilee Hills, and Rajendra Nagar, is pending and their names will be announced soon.
