A Special Treat for Special Children

Hyderabad: Celebrating Children’s Day with festivity and colours, Round Table India, an Indian arm of an international organization spread all over the world plans to organize ‘Taare Zameen Par’, a unique painting competition for differently-abled and physically challenged children here in the city at Hotel Basera at SP Road, Secunderabad. The children will revel in colours and will be royally treated with their choicest dishes like Masala Butter Milk, Veg Shanghai Roll, Paneer Butter Masala, Gutti Vnakaya Curry, Veg Dum Biryani, Apricot Delight and Chocolate Ice Cream and will also be given gift Hampers besides prizes.  

The Painting competition expects the participation of 500 from different schools such as NIEPID, Swayam Krushi Special School, Sweekaar Upkaar, Spoorthi Special School, Helping Hands, Shri Guru Sankalpam, Radha Institute Child Guidance Center and Prerana Foundation

Speaking on the occasion, Round Tabler Harshit Sheth, Coordinator for the event said that Taare Zamen Par is a National Initiative of Round Table India where a Painting and sketch competition will be organised for the differently-abled Children to help children unravel their hidden Skills. This competition will be organised across the Country.  It has been organized for the past fourteen years.

Round Table India Week is celebrated every year during November with seven different activities such as Animal Welfare, Blood Donation, Donor Day, Choose Your Cause, Taare Zameen Par.  On the eve of Taare Zameen Par, a unique painting competition was conducted for differently abled and physically challenged children.

The competition will be simultaneously held in Hyderabad and several other cities on Wednesday. A total of nearly 500 children will take part in both the Telugu states and nearly 40,000 will take part across the country. In the past celebrations used to be held across India on Children’s Day on November 14.  But, this year due to Diwali falling around the same time, it is celebrated across India on 14th and 22nd November.    

For the world, these kids are differently gifted. We feel they are gifted. These kids dwell in a beautiful world of their own. Devoid of number crunching pressures, no deadlines… Just the pleasure of enjoying the moment. No ghosts of the past as memories, No phantoms of the future as worries. The sheer joy of living for the moment said Vikrant, Chairperson of Area 9 and Nimisha, Chairperson of Ladies Circle AST Area 9

It will be a great pleasure to see the differently gifted children enjoy their day out and express themselves with colours. Taare Zameen Par is an annual activity that Round Table India undertakes where children who are ‘especially abled’ take part in huge numbers, said Round Tabler Vikrant, Chairman Area 9. Children of tablers participate as volunteers and put in their 100% for the event, he said.

The winners of the competition will be given away gift hampers consisting of bags, water bottles, and tiffin boxes besides prizes. They will be royally treated with their choicest dishes.

Round Table India is a non-profit association of more than 332 tables (Primary units or branches) across the nation. Its flagship program is Freedom Through Education (FTE).  It completed 25 years of the program where it has built 8665 classrooms in over 3616 projects, impacting the lives of more than 9.53 million underprivileged children. In the last 10 years, RTI has built on an average of one classroom a day every day.
